Everything is out of the greenhouse. I need to go out there with a big trash bag and clean it out but for now, all the plants are out, the heater has been disconnected and removed. It was a fun winter. I’m still surprised that we managed to keep things alive in there with the amount of cold we had. I’m very thankful we ended with the propane tank 40% full.
It was stuffed to the gills at one point. We had 18 tomatoes that I started from seeds, half a dozen lemon trees, we grew lettuce all winter, kept some herbs alive, kept the moringo tree alive. There were various plants and herbs in there but everything has been moved out til fall.
I love my greenhouse. That’s one of the best investments we made as far as toys. I doubt it ever supports itself in that we don’t grow enough to even make it worth paying for the propane but I have fun in there and I’m hoping Vince will get involved and do some hydroponics next year. That was why we originally bought the greenhouse. If not, I’ll fill it up with whatever I have growing around here.

So funny, you are emptying yours, just as I am getting ready to fill mine! The tomato plants are still in the house as the greenhouse temperatures dip too much yet at night. The brassicas, which can handle cool temps, are in there now as part of their transition to the garden. Fingers crossed, we’ll be eating from the greenhouse and the garden in just a couple more months! Those tomatoes will taste great, even if their net cost is around $200 each, considering the cost of the greenhouse and propane to heat it! ?
