At least this time, I didn’t have to rip all the way back but I did rip back far enough to fix the mistake on the striping. This is what it looked like when I missed one of the striping rows:
A couple of nights ago I was nearing the end of Clue #2 and that section is a bit tricky so I excused myself from the family room and went to the dining room table where it was quiet and I didn’t feel the need to participate in the conversation. I was knitting along . . 2 rows from the end of that section and I felt tiny little pings on my thigh and realized it was stitch markers slipping off the project as the cable had come unscrewed from the needle and 2/3 of a row (well over 300 stitches with lace) had fallen off the needle. There was no way I could get them back on so I tinked back to where there was no lace and then I said .. oh, heck .. I’ll just go all the way back to where I had those stripes wrong and go from there.
I have never had needles come unscrewed during a project. They may unscrew a little but never close to completely coming apart. These are new needles and this is the second time it’s happened. I love the points. I love the cables but the connection . . not so much!
That’s what I did and here’s where I am now.
I like it much better. I’m sorry I had to rip back so many stitches but am glad to have the stripes right.
Without a doubt, Clue #4 is going to be released before I’ve even started on Clue #3 unless I stay up very late tonight and tomorrow night knitting. We have plans for most of today and all of tomorrow and other than maybe knitting on a pair of socks while in the car, there’s not much knitting in my plans for the next couple of days.
But, isn’t this shawl going to be gorgeous once it’s finished?

It is going to be very pretty……the doing the stripes the correct way sure lightened it up….

Beautiful! Do I want to know what kind of needles don’t stay screwed on?

I had that happen three times on a cowl I’m working on. I bought Addiclicks because that’s not supposed to happen with those. Well, guess what — it happened with the Addiclicks. So I bought GhiaoGoo Knit Red – not interchangeables and restarted the entire project. I’M not experienced yet to be able to pick up whole rows or even a few stitches. But I can say it is very frustrating when the needles come apart. I feel your pain!

Like everything else you do, it is beautiful! I do like the striping better but I am sorry you had to rip it back. How many times have I done that myself!

Yes, this is beautiful, and with the darkness of the blue, the “correct” striping does look better. But how sad that your knitting just fell off! That would certainly put me off the needles.
