If you’re a knitter, chances are you’ve heard of Malabrigo March and Mad May. Malabrigo March is where you spend the month of March making things made with Malabrigo yarn. There are rules and plans and other stuff but that’s the main point – lots of Malabrigo yarn used in May.
Then there’s Mad May. The month of May, we knit like crazy and use Madelinetosh yarn. You can read about it on the Madelinetosh Ravelry Group. There are specific projects and general projects.
One is a “Sock SAL” (Sock Stitch Along). I love making socks and I love Madelinetosh Twist Light for making socks! I can double dip with this one because it will be part of the “Summer of Socks” KAL at Eat, Sleep, Knit, and I’m doing socks for my Zodiac badge (12 pair in 2018). What pattern will I use? No idea!
Second Mad May project for me is Liquid Gold. I’ve had the pattern since July, 2017, ever since I saw HonestBloom’s project, which you probably cannot see if you aren’t signed into Ravelry but I loved it. I have the same yarn she used but I doubt I use that. It so happens that HonestBloom is a moderator for the ESK group and there’s a badge for “Copycat” where you get points for making the same project as one of the ESK kitties and HonestBloom counts as a kitty.
Third Mad May project (like there’s a chance I’ll get even two finished) for me is Winterfell Cardigan (and this may be the project I start with). I have plenty of Pashmina but I’d rather use Tosh Sport. The ONLY Tosh Sport I have is Firewood and it’s a bit variegated and I doubt the slipped stitch pattern will show up. I’m not sure it matters. Not sure I want to order more yarn. Maybe I’ll order yarn. Maybe I’ll use Pashmina. Maybe I’ll use Firewood in Tosh Sport. Decisions!
Fourth and final and the one with the least chance of getting done . . so little chance that I’m not even signing up for this one but hope springs eternal – in the WIP SAL (Work in Progress Stitch Along). There are at least two Madelinetosh yarn projects that are so long ago abandoned that they are in the “Hibernating” category of my projects. It may all boil down to which one I can find first.
Anyone want to join me for Mad May? You can do just one category. There are prizes!

Wish I could join you! As it is, I’m not that great at knitting. I’ve never done any decorative stitches. I generally can knit and pearl, and that’s about it. I did an afghan years ago that used 4 colors in a design, but my grandmother was around at that time and showed me how to change colors properly. She’s been gone since 1985. One of these days I hope to get back into knitting again, and take some classes to learn to do all the fancy stuff. For now, I’m working on at least 4 different quilts at the same time. Guess I have enough to keep me busy for now. 🙂

I’ve got one big project looming for me (besides two quilts that are due) and I’ll be making the Neruda shawl by Natajsa Hornsby. Already have the yarn! As soon as I finish the current Magnolia socks, this one will get cast on. I’m looking forward to seeing your knitting.

That tempted me once I saw Honest Bloom’s page. I even went in search of the yarn. I would use that yarn if I had it! Very pretty. You’re going to get me back to knitting one day! I have entirely TOO much fabric to really take it up though. Bad, Judy!!
