Yesterday morning, this was the first article I read . . before ever getting out of bed. I kept reading bits and pieces of it to VInce. 21 Lessons on How to Get the Most Out of Life, from a guy who retired at 50.
I printed it and I told Vince we’re going to read it together every morning! Please take the time to read it . . no matter how old or how young you are.
I love all of it but #4 is so true and #5 brought tears to my eyes. No explanation needed . . I think you all know exactly what I was thinking. I went out and worked in the garden, I walked around the orchard for the third time this morning, chickens following me along, chattering . . there’s so much happiness here. We’ve built this place into what we’ve always wanted. I think I use being near Chad, Nicole and Addie as an excuse. I truly have gypsy blood, but yet I’m a “nester”. That doesn’t seem to be possible. I’ve never lived in the same house very long. We were in KY 9 years but we lived in two different places there. We’ve been here almost 7 years. My timer starts to buzz after about 3 years in one location. But, you can’t live the lifestyle I want to live – fruit trees, gardens, chickens, extra propane tanks, water wells . . you just can’t realistically do all those things, then walk away every 3 – 5 years. Happiness is here . . today. We have so much to be thankful for. There will come a time when we need to move closer to the kids but it’s not today. My head is 100% sure I’m correct . . my heart – not so much.
All of the 21 points are great. I’d love to get a poster of this list and have it hanging where I can see it and read it every day!

I really enjoyed reading this. Most I already do, so it was great to see someone else sees life this way.

That’s interesting, and I agree with his points. I’m probably a little more cautious about jumping into things, but then I’m older, too. I retired at 57, and I’ve learned a lot of things that aren’t on his list, too. =)

You know right now you have everything you need and want right where you are! You have made that place just the way you like it and you are not going to find another one that is just like it! No matter how far you look or where you look or how hard you look, you are not going to find it because you already have it. Just my thoughts! LOL Of course that little girl makes a difference, your outlook may change later. I just don’t want you to leave here! I guess that makes me selfish.

Read that yesterday too. We are really pretty much un line with most of his points. Galen retired at 56. Hard to believe
