The Impressionist Shawl calls for 4 mm needles but I always go down a needle size because I’m such a loose knitter. It really doesn’t matter how loose you knit because you can always go down a needle size, or two or three, and get gauge. I rarely check gauge on a shawl because it doesn’t have to fit. The only time I swatch for a shawl is if I’m using completely different yarns and I may have to use different needles to get the exact same gauge on both.
I debated whether to use a 3.5 mm or a 3.75 mm. My head told me to use a 3.5. Once you go above size 4, the needles are sized 4.5 mm, 5 mm, 5.5 mm, etc. so I kinda felt that a 3.75 mm might not be small enough to accommodate my loose knitting but . . I saw a pair of 3.75 mm needles, grabbed them and away I went.
Immediately I knew the fabric was sloppy loose and I wasn’t going to be happy with it but I kept on . . til late last night I finished Clue #2. I look at the piece and said NO! I don’t like it. I decided to sleep on it.
This morning, I didn’t like it any better than I liked it last night so . . the only thing left to do . .
I love the colors. I love Curious Handmade’s patterns. Do I start anew with smaller needles or move on to the next one??

Start over with smaller needles…I love the colors!!!! I had to rip out nearly all of a shawl this week too…ugh! Got caught up and now on my way. I used to mainly crochet but now that I’ve started knitting–I am LOVING it!!!

This is so hard to do after all the hard work you have done! I finished my denim blue and white sweater. Will do a picture of it on FB.
