Don’t blame me . . I did not order this yarn.
Background: I was 5 years old – many, many years ago. My mom was a school teacher. My mom had just graduated from college (Northwestern in Louisiana). My mom and my uncle both got jobs in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana so we moved. My parents and my uncle bought lots next to each other. It seemed way out of town at the time but now, it’s kinda in the middle of everything. My uncle was going to be teaching at the high school. My mom was going to be teaching at a brand new elementary school and when school started, I would be in the first grade. First grade – brand new school – mom being a brand new 2nd grade teacher. My sister was 3 so . . something had to be done with her while mom taught and I was in first grade! I don’t even know how mom found the lady who would become our second mother. She kept my sister til she started school and then she kept us any time we were sick and couldn’t go to school or when there were teacher days but kids weren’t allowed.
These people had children. One was a year younger than me, and one was a year younger than my sister so there were girls . . by the time school started, I was 6, Margaret was 5, Pam was 4 and Cindy was 3. There were at least two other kids but they may not have even been born yet . . I can’t remember when they showed up. I don’t remember them as babies but that was a very long time ago. We all ended up being friends for life – the lady and her husband have both passed away but we stayed in touch almost always.
Yesterday, I got this note from the girl who is one year younger than me.
Of course . . I said YES!
Then I got a message from the person who’s taking the yarn from the lady who’s one year younger than me and giving it to the person I’lll see next week and this is what the person who now has the yarn sent me:
Are you as excited as I am to see this yarn . . all hand dyed and hand spun. I have no idea what to expect but I’m pretty excited to see it. Surprises make me happy!

Ooo, nice! I have about 40 lbs of wool a friend gave me from his sheep. I washed & dried it (that took weeks!) and have carded & spun enough to make a few hats. Sadly he passed away last year but I’ll never run out of his wool. Have you seen Heavenly Handspinning’s website? I have one of their electric wheels, it’s awesome! I envy that your yarn is ready to knit, lucky day!

Surprises that fit are best! Surprise shouldn’t be on the wrong end though! This will be a good one.
