No, winter isn’t really back but it’s a cold morning for us. I understand that many places are much colder but, yesterday it was 93° and sunny. This morning . .
It was a bit colder when I first woke up. I’ll be anxious to see how the tomatoes hold up but I’m not going out there now. They’re going to be the same whether I go check on them or not. I will have to go out and get asparagus some time today but I’ll wait til it warms up into the 50’s, which is as warm as it’s going to get today and then it will be another cold night.
So much for what my friend always said that it was a couple of degrees warmer out here. Here’s a snapshot of the local Wunderground weather stations’ reports.
We’re VDL and we’re the lowest as far as actual temp.
The winds didn’t get as high as they had predicted. Accuweather was saying 20 – 40 mph gusts; a friend saw on TV that it could get up to 60 mph gusts but the highest gust we had was about 21.5 mph.
I suppose there’s a good chance I’ll be buying replacement tomato plants and getting my plums from the grocery store this year. That’s how it goes. In the end, it just reminds me . . I keep saying the only reason to stay here is to see our fruit trees produce and enjoy the fruit, along with the good garden but when it’s pretty close to impossible to grow fruit and a garden here . . why are we staying? So, if a late cold snap and high winds ruin everything, maybe that’s what it takes to convince Vince that we can go once he retires and not stick around . . waiting on fruit and veggies to grow. How’s that for making lemonade from lemons?

Brrrr, it’s cold here this am as well! I have 3 tomatoes in pots, my lemon tree and a few other potted plants which I covered and had just planted a little garden area around my mailbox which is also covered. We’ll see how they do after uncovering and (maybe) being exposed to some sun today (though chances may be slim for sun today). I’m just glad I don’t live in Okla City anymore.

In SC weather has been hit and miss…..have not planted veggies. Still plenty of time. Messing with the flowers beds. Ready to take inside pots outside but will wait till next week.

It’s been snowing in Kentucky. Think it’s about done though. Yesterday it was in the high 60’s.

The frost free date is around April 15 here in Six Mile,SC(about 5 miles from Clemson). We have been carrying 1000 tomato plants into the sunroom and back out. It is supposed to be 60 today, but 30’s tonight. I love the cooler weather and can wait for hot humid weather but am craving a ripe tomato sandwich.

I live near Paducah, KY. Tuesday evening I was in my safe place waiting for tornados to end. This morning I have a heavy dusting of snow on the ground. That is spring time in Kentucky for you. A good day just to stay home and quilt.

Its raining here on the Western Slope of Colorado, the mountains are supposed to get a very heavy wet snow with possible flooding on Sunday Monday with the warming of the day. YUCK !! I’ll take the rain any day of the week , but I did plant the onions outside in the garden.. Not much going in as my raised beds need to rejuvenate with the fresh soil that was put in. Now for some nice juicy worms to help it all out … Hahahaha .. Farmers Market here we come for the rest of all of it.

I’m in southeast Missouri, and we had snow this morning. Granted, it was melted by 10 a.m., but the ground was definitely white at 7 a.m., and we had nine tornados around us on Tuesday…what a change!

But every year is different! As we say here in Texas, If you don’t like the weather, just wait a minute!
