This is late for planting tomatoes but they’re pretty big so if the transplanting this late didn’t shock them too much, we still have time to get some good tomatoes.
Yesterday I planted 10 tomatoes. I counted that I still had 8 left to plant. When I brought them over this morning and planted them, I only had 7. Then when I went back to get a load of small pots of other things out of the greenhouse, I found one that had fallen out.
That made 18. I originally thought I had 20 so I dug 20 holes. Now, I have 2 empty holes. I may buy two tomatoes at the plant store or I may stick eggplant or something else in there.
The plant stores are just now getting in a good selection of veggies so I guess I’m not really THAT late.
I planted all these from seeds and somewhere, I have it written down what I planted. I’d be happy if these were some stripey variety. They look like they could be.
Almost every plant has tomatoes on it. Now, all I can do is fertilize, water and hope for the best.
I’m glad to have the elderberries planted and the tomatoes planted. After a few days of recuperating from all the work, I may till up a small space for planting some green beans and okra but . . I may not.

Envious of being able to work in the garden. Snow today. We are several more weeks away. But darn. More quilting time!!’

Tonight I’m wishing I hadn’t done it. Low tonight is predicted to be 36 but the high today was 93. They burn up in the greenhouse or the freeze in the garden! 🙁

That’s a lot of tomatoes coming your way. I absolutely know you are going to have a bumper crop!

What will you do with the elders berries?

Tomatoes are my favorite planting, in my limited space. They are still but a twinkle in my eye… Somewhere along the line I missed something, as you have alluded to NOT planting a garden this year, then planting some crops but less, so I’m a bit confused. Not to be nosy if it is not an appropriate question, though, but I was wondering about why you were not planting a garden this year.
