There are plenty of bluebirds out in the yard and in the bird bath and in other nesting boxes but the one nest I can get to easily, the one nest I love to watch . . they’re just not doing much in it this year. The box in the orchard will usually be one of the first to have eggs and baby birds.
Maybe they’re just a bit later with this nest. I never see a bird flying into or out of it but the nest has been in progress for a while. It looks like it’s ready for eggs. I’m ready for eggs in there and I’m ready for baby birds but . . they haven’t consulted me about their plans.

Do you guys pull the old nests out each end of the year? Or will they lay in old nests?
Judy Laquidara says
We pull the old ones out and clean out the nests.

How precious

We are seeing the same thing up here north of Fort Worth. They must be just on a different time schedule this year.

Something is different this year. We’ve never seen any beautiful blue birds here….until a couple of weeks ago. Having lunch, I looked up and WOW, I think it’s a real blue bird! There was two pair. We enjoyed their flitting for a time and finally accepted we had been blessed to see this beauty for a while and now it moved on for someone else to enjoy! I had never seen a real blue bird.
