When in doubt about colors, greyscale always tells the truth and I can see the shades and know if I have a definite light, medium and dark. Or, I could swatch and see how my yarn colors play together. Editing in greyscale is much easier!
Here’s the photo I started with . . my first choice.
Actually, I think the light, medium and dark are pretty well defined.
Here’s the hanks not yet caked for Choice #2:
Choice #2 isn’t bad but I think there’s more blending of the light and medium.
These are the Choice #2 yarns caked. Doesn’t the middle one look so much lighter than it does in the first grouping?
I really think Colors 1 and 2 are going to be too blendy and the reason I first didn’t like this combination was because I felt Color 1 was too light for the others. Greyscale is amazing!
These are the yarns I ordered.
As far as light, medium and dark, I think Choice #3 might work too.
So, it’s either the original yarns (greens/blues) or these last ones that I just ordered. Thoughts??

I love blues(and purples) and that is always my first choice, but lately, pinks and peaches have really been catching my eye. I don’t think you could go wrong with either 1 or 2.

Blues and greens!

I like your first choice best, but it’s basically because I love those colors much more than any of the others you’ve shown us. I just love blues and purples or greens and purples, or blues and greens, or…. I think you get the picture. 🙂

I still like your first choice best!

I love that your first choice was chosen because of the painting of iris’ that you liked. The colors were so perfect and you will probably love wearing that shawl. What a great tool grayscale is. Thank you for sharing

Your first choice will be pretty. My heart melted at the choices for #3 and especially that yarn on the far right. It made me wish I was a knitter.

Absolutely first choice. When you first posted those yarns, I thought it was such a great choice. Was bummed you were second guessing yourself……..but the greyscale confirms it’ll work just grand!
