This is just a “public service announcement”. We have a chance of storms the next few days. If our power goes out, our internet goes down and the cell phones don’t work without internet at our house so . . if I’m quiet for a day or so, don’t worry about me. If ever the power is out for more than a few days, I’ll go to the library and check in here but I know that, since I write so often, some of you worry if I miss just one day of posting. I love that you’re looking out for me but I worry that you’re worried about me! 🙂
I’m not expecting the storms to be very serious but out here in the country, the power seems to be able to stay on for some pretty horrendous wind and then go off for what seemed like a minor storm so, we never know.
We have everything we need to stay safe and keep our bellies full so . . don’t ever worry about me. I did all the laundry yesterday (though I have ways to do it without power); the propane tanks are full so we can cook on the stovetop; water jars are filled with drinking water; buckets are filled for flushing toilets; generators have been tested for keeping the freezers going just long enough to keep the food safe.
The only thing we’re not good on is a way to run the air conditioner. That could send me to a hotel in town! 🙂
Seriously, I don’t expect a problem but . . you never know.

Best to be prepared.

It is that time of the year! I have the Safe Room aka closet in center of the house ready for me and Paddington. We’ve even had test runs! Be safe…this is not a favorite time of the year for many of us.

I always fill the bathtubs with water when we are expecting a bad storm so that we can flush the toilets. Having a well is wonderful…most of the time!

Storms predicted here as well although flooding will be the concern for St Louis. Predicted to get down to 26 tomorrow night so being hot is definitely not going to be our issue. Stay safe.

You sure you weren’t a boy scout? =) I hope the storms aren’t any worse than needed to have plenty of time for knitting something.
