For those of you who need inspiration for cooking at home . . this will do it. This is one story and my guess is this happens more often than we ever hear about. Add to that how many times people wipe their hand across their nose, or don’t wash their hands after going to the bathroom and honestly, it’s all I can do to eat anywhere except home.
We’ve gotten in the habit of having a big salad, with hemp hearts and we’ll add half a chicken breast, or sauteed scallops or shrimp or a small piece of fish.
A while back we watched something about the health benefits of hemp hearts and we’ve been using them ever since. I put them in my oatmeal, and always on my salad.
There are many articles online that talk about the benefits of hemp hearts. Here’s one to get you started if you’re interested.

Just wondering what they taste like? I tried chai seeds and didn’t like the taste of them at all. The benefits I read sounded good.

Stuff like that always concerns me as something that could set off the diverticulitis (and I DON’T LIKE having the diverticulitis kick in..ugh). I better pass.
Judy Laquidara says
Oh, yes, something like that could be cause an issue. These aren’t hard seeds but are more like small nuts but still , I wouldn’t risk it if I had diverticulitis.
This is another of those instances where I’m not qualified to give an opinion but if you do a quick google search, you may be surprised at what you find.

A good friend who worked as a waitress most of her adult life told me many restaurants recycle the bread in the bread basket some restaurants bring to the table!! How’s that for making you never want to eat out again!

This is one reason I only eat at certain restaurants, and order certain things, and in certain parts of the city.

Reading about all the things in the article about all the healthy things in them all sounded good except when Sherrill mentioned the Diverticulitis (which I have) and then the “Sulfu” I’m very allergic to Sulfa. I guess I’ll pass.

So I wonder, since hemp seeds are from the Cannabis Sativa (aka marijuana) plant, if someone is required to do drug testing, will they pass or fail?
Judy Laquidara says
Since I have no personal knowledge, I’m not going to comment other than to say there are multiple articles about this on the internet so if you wanted to try them and were afraid of it affecting a drug test, please google it and then make a decision based on your own situation. It would be pretty bad to fail a drug test because of eating hemp seeds on a salad but . . I am not qualified to answer or comment on this.
