As soon as I got outside to take pictures, the wind began blowing. We have lots of little peaches.
Our plums all get ripe at almost the same time but our peaches spread out over about six weeks. This is the first tree that will ripen . Two of the other trees just now have blooms opening.
I couldn’t get good pictures with the wind but the tail on the peaches always looks so long at this point. As the peach grows, soon there will be just a little point at the bottom but right now, it looks like a spear!
A little rain would be so nice but, at this time of year, any amount of rain usually comes with hail so, be careful what you ask for. We have extreme fire danger today and thankfully, the burn ban has been reinstated. We almost always have a burn ban and many of us were wondering why they cancelled it a couple of weeks ago but they now have it back.
I was going to take the RTV out yesterday afternoon and check the bluebird houses but was afraid of parking a warm engine over tall weeds and decided it was too risky til we get some rain. Looking at our forecast, there’s not much chance of rain for the next month but, we all know the forecast isn’t always correct.

Do you thin your peaches out? We have just one peach tree, which most years is a prolific producer. I spend hours thinning it out around this time of year because otherwise we get very small peaches. Ours is a dwarf Honey Babe that is pretty big for being a dwarf.

Yes, I do thin them out but I’m waiting for more of them to form. Right now, there are still a lot of blooms. Once the blooms have all fallen off, I’ll be able to pick out the ones that look the strongest and pinch off the others.

Yes, that’s what I do as well. I was just looking for a way out of doing it … ha ha. Love the peach cobblers we make from that tree!

Take my rain for the next week. That will give you a good 5 days of soaking. I’ll take the sunshine and some heat, all you want to give me. LOL Here’s hoping there are a lot of peaches in your future!

We are so thankful for the rain we got over night. Almost an inch, slow and there really were no puddles. The word drought was being tossed around. I am anxious to see the wheat field around the corner when I get out tomorrow. Clyde has been saying it would really ‘pop’ if it got a drink. The best shade of green!
