Yesterday, from the time I saw the Rose pattern, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I thought about it while cooking, while cleaning, while at the doctor with Vince. I thought about it during the afternoon. Finally, I got online and looked at some yarn possibilities.
One of the concerns I have is if I choose yarns that have too much action, all those cables aren’t going to show so I was trying to stick with close to solid yarns.
The first two, Choice A and Choice B, are Miss Babs’ Yummy 3 Ply.
Choice C is Malabrigo Arroyo.
Even though I knew I had hardly any sport weight yarn in my stash, I went digging and . . found nothing. But, during the process of digging, I came across so many yarns I want to use. At some point, I have to use what I have and stop buying yarn for projects or I’ll never use my stash.
In my stash, I found Miss Babs Kaweah in the color, Lead.
Even though this is DK weight, I might can get gauge with it. The pattern gauge is 26 stitches/4″ on size 4/3.50 mm needles. According to Miss Babs, the gauge for Kaweah is 21 – 24 stitches/4″ on US 4 – 6 needles. The yarn feels/looks more like a sport weight to me and I’m going to do a swatch and see.
On one hand, I wish the yarn wasn’t so dark. I’m not sure how well all the cables will show up but on the other hand, who doesn’t need another nice black-ish sweater!
I’d so much rather use stash yarn than buy yarn and I’m sure Vince’s budget would appreciate that effort on my part. If it works . . it works. If not, I’ll have to buy yarn but since I don’t have a clue which yarn I would buy, waiting is probably a good thing.

I really like he Float Away color in Choice A. Acid yellow is one of my least favorite colors. But that’s just my opinion. I think the cables will show up just fine in the Lead colorway. I hope the swatch works out and you can knit from your stash.

well if it was for me, I would like a lighter one LOL…. I know it’s not for me though.

I nearly picked the same color combo of the Arroyo before I decided to go more purple/blue than green/blue (only because I have both a green and a blue sweater on the needles already. All of them are great combos – you need to make one of each??? 🙂

I love C, but A would be my choice. I love how the second skein blends to the third skein (from left to right) to bring it all together.
