Yesterday morning I was out piddling in the orchard, watching the fruit trees grow . . and I noticed a chicken suspiciously sitting in the sand pile.
My first thought was that she was sitting on a nest. We seriously do not need any more chickens. I walked over to her, picked her up and thankfully, there were no eggs under her. I probably would have let her keep sitting if there were eggs because I didn’t know how long she had been there but we just don’t need any baby chicks.
Then . . Vince had the first part of a sleep study done last night. He had it done in Brady and he got there a little early so he went by Tractor Supply. He called me and said “They have these cute little “Blue Anzillian”. I have no idea what they really were but that’s the name he remembered. He said “Do you want any?” NO! We do not need more chickens. But, they may be a rare breed! Yes, they may be but we still do not need any.
Thankfully, he came home with no chicks. And you all though it was me who couldn’t get out of Tractor Supply without buying baby chicks!

LOL, I had to read your post twice!! In these parts, the word piddling apparently doesn’t mean the same thing it does in Texas! I couldn’t imaging why you would be piddling in the orchard when it’s just a short walk to the house and indoor plumbing, LOL!!

this comment by Terri cracks me up.

Too funny! In my “parts” the word can mean either. ….just depends on context. I piddle waaay too much. On the other hand, (TMI alert) not often enough! Isn’t the English language fun!!

Actually no, it’s not…LOL. English is my third language and very difficult. It took me forever to figure out why people called that flying bug a drag and fly. I didn’t see it dragging anything. That’s just 1 example along with piddle. Don’t get me started on There, Their and They’re or Two, to and too.
Cilla Tyler says
It took me a minute to figure that out also. LOL

How many layers do you have now? Don’t they have to be replaced periodically to avoid having a year with no eggs? Yes, now you know how very little I know about chickens in spite of having 3 friends who have them!

I have a Blue Andalusian hen. They’re a smoky blue/gray color…very pretty.
