One of my chickens has been laying gigantic eggs, off and on . . one or two every three or four weeks. I guess it’s just one chicken, I really don’t know which chicken lays which egg but . . I don’t think it would be fun to lay an egg this big . . not that I have much experience in what it feels like to lay any size egg.
The egg on the right is actually a very large egg. The one on the left is gigantic! The shell is all ripply, like she had to patch it together to get it big enough. Poor girl!
My guess was that it would have double yolks and it did. I love getting double yolk eggs but the hens probably prefer to lay more normal sized eggs.

OUCH!
Carolyn says
Wow, that just looks painful!!! Although, I guess it’s no worse than giving birth to a baby, but I had drugs when I did that. LOL
Joyce says
That is one big egg! I feel sorry for the chicken…
Sherrill Pecere says
Poor chicken..I wonder if it’s injurious to them in any way? That just looks awful.
Dotti says
Just like humans, chickens could have twins.
Judy Laquidara says
The double yolk eggs very, very rarely produce twins, but it is possible.
Carolyn says
Bless her heart!
