Hello Everyone,
Well, I am still here! I have a ways to go before I am back to 100%, but recovery is coming along fine. The new diet is in full gear and I walking a little more every day. I have a sleep study scheduled this week and I am waiting to hear when I can start cardiac rehab. Judy has been taking good care of me and I appreciate her adapting to the new lifestyle, but we both needed to do it. We are watching how many carbs and salt we are eating. Chicken and fish, in small amounts, is the new norm. The wakeup call is not being taken for granted. Times like this gives one an opportunity reflect so I am sure in the next few weeks I will have all new kinds of insights. That’s about it for now, but as my daddy always said, call a plumber when you got a plugged pipe and an electrician when things ain’t running right.

It isn’t so bad for awile. You can eat red meat just and amount a week. You and my hubby are on the day path right now. Did they send home health care to keep a watch on you and physical therapy? He gets nurse come once week to check up and it two times a week. Insurance co. does it to keep you out of hospital days cheaper for them.
Also cardio doctor says sleep apnea helps cause heart problems kind of like they go together so it is goodbye . It is Good you are getting that done . Once you get machine and get use to it you won’t go without it. Life. Will l never be the same again we even carry on vacation. But will sleep so much better .

Best of luck. The CPAP machine really helps you sleep more restful. Make sure you try the different mask….I like to switch using both of them. Will let them tell you about them but you will find what works best for you.

Take good care Vince. So grateful you got this warning without heart damage!

Glad you are on the mend, Vince. These “wake up” calls aren’t fun, but thankfully they do put things into perspective. You and Judy are in my prayers.

At least you got a wake up call and heeded it. Now you have a second chance at taking better care of yourself. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I am so glad you are doing so well. I am also glad you got out of here and someone did something for you. You were right to pursue this further. Listen to the doctors and do all you can to get well. If you are on the Tuesday and Thursday schedule at rehab you might meet my husband Pat Coursey. He is in the same class as Dallas Huston, the radio disc jockey and the voice of the Brownwood Lions They have a good time talking and walking around the hospital. They are both characters! Dallas is also a Baptist preacher which is interesting because I knew him before I knew Pat and he was no saint! LOL
A speedy recovery to you and you have a wonderful wife to help you along the way.
Penny says
Great to hear from you with good news, Vince! Glad this was just a warning for you ~ you listened & now are on the mend! I compliment you w/ your new blog especially discussing your health issues & also the necessary changes you’ve made! I’m sure by sharing you have influenced & encouraged many to take better care of themselves!
Debby Hughey says
Vince, I’m very sorry to read about your health scare but you caught it in time. You listened to your body. That makes you one blessed man. Ignoring symptoms leads to serious problems. Good for you.
One more thing, whether you know it or not, you are so lucky to have a wife like Judy who will go anywhere, or change anything for you! BTW I’m the lady in Spanish Lake Missouri that Judy forced into getting chicks and ducklings from Tractor Supply just because.
Judy Laquidara says
I think I’m being blamed for someone’s lack of self control but that’s ok because I blame everyone else for my shortfalls. 🙂
Andrea says
I’m happy to hear that you are feeling better! It would have been scary enough to feel that way, but I can’t imagine dealing with it the whole drive to Abilene. Glad it worked out the way it did!
Patti K says
Hey! So glad to hear from you. I hope you feel better each day. I have celiac disease, so I know a new diet can be hard at first. Wishing you the best from Cape Cod!
