This is what my life has come to . . watching movies and making movie suggestions.
Today we wanted a Netflix movie, People Like Us, and I loved it.
We’re in the middle of watching one called “Vernon, Florida”. It’s about funny old people and so far it has made me laugh. The stories remind me of my dad’s stories. We haven’t seen the end yet so I’m a bit hesitant to recommend it but so far, it’s been funny – no real plot . . just funny old people talking.
There’s not a whole lot Vince can do so I’m thankful he’s being considerate and we’re not watching movies where people’s heads get chopped off!

So glad Vince is doing well! My husband is a Cowboy–can do anything, fix anything and is very non-emotional. With that said, he WILL NOT watch a violent movie–hates them! He hates any movie in which a pet dies or is injured. If the movie involves violence of any kind–he’s not watching it–he would rather see a “chick flick!”

Another feel good movie is The Magic of Belle Island

We have a movie on disc that is one of Rene Zellweger’s first movies. It also stars Anthony D’onofrio. Could be one of his earliest movies also. It is the story of Novalene Price and her love for Robert E. Howard. Robert E. Howard is buried in Greenleaf Cemetery here and he was the person who wrote Conan The Barbarian. He was a weird person but she loved him. She later became a teacher at LSU and her students took her book and made the movie of it. If you ever get a chance to watch “The whole wide world”, watch it. It will make you laugh and it will make you cry. It takes place in Brownwood, Cisco and mostly in Cross Plains where Robert E. Howard lived. There is a monument at his house on Hwy 36 and they have the Conan Festival each year in June. They have signed pictures from Arnold Schwarzenegger on the wall of the house. People from all over the world go to this celebration! It is interesting listening to their stories. One of his biggest admirers is Stephen King. He credits Robert Howard for his success!
