The chickens love to take dust baths so they scratch and dig and once they get themselves a little hole going . . there’s no stopping them.

I don’t know if you can see it but there’s a hole and there’s a chicken in it. I figured by the time I got close enough to her to get a good picture, she’d take off but she didn’t.

I think she figured if she got up, another chicken would get in her hole so she stayed there.
Imagine trying to cut the grass with about 10 holes that deep all around the orchard. Poor Vince!

I’m glad I don’t have digging chickens! My yard is one giant mole run, which is equally painful to mow. I think I’m going to have call an exterminator one of these days. 🙁
