Last night while taking a picture of the Siren Song Shawl, I managed to drop some stitches and thought I’d fixed them but after knitting about 6 more rows, I realized I hadn’t fixed the mistakes quite right. Also, I wasn’t loving the project. Next week, we have something every single day . . some days we have two things happening – medical appointments, meetings with insurance people. I wouldn’t have been able to knit on that while at my knitting group so, there was almost no chance of finishing it on time.
I thought about it all morning today, started working on it again after lunch and decided to give it up. I ripped it all back. I’ll use the yarn for something else.
Now, here’s the weird part of this story. Monday night when I got home from the hospital, it was late and I was in the sewing room digging through yarn looking for a yarn that would work for this project and I found another skein of the green yarn I was using for my Sunset Highway. It was a full skein and that would enable me to do what I had wanted to do on the sleeves. I thought . . I’ll just leave it here in this box (the Madelinetosh tub) until I need it. Today I needed it. I went searching for it. Not in the Madelinetosh tub. Either I dreamed that I found it . . and after the day we had, that might be true. Maybe I picked it up and stuck it in another tub while looking for a yarn for Siren Song. I have no idea.
My question is: Do I go ahead and finish the sleeves without the green yarn, knowing that it will probably show up as soon as I finish; or do I wait and hope to find the yarn again? If it was only in my dreams . . well, thank goodness I can blame all this on the crazy day we had with VInce being admitted to the hospital.

Tough choice….If it was me, I’d put it aside and wait to see if the green yarn showed up. But having said that, I’m very good at putting things aside….Some i never get back to. If you’re better at getting back to things than me, then maybe you would be safe waiting to find the green yarn later….

Oh my gosh, Judy, that happens to me and it’s so aggravating!! I’d go ahead and get it done since you never know when or if you’ll find it (if you wanna have it finished in the near future). Ha

I would give it one intense looking for it session and if I couldn’t find it then I would just finish it. If I put it aside and wait it could end up misplaced and who knows when it would get finished.

I would wait till things calm down and look again. It is there. Maybe right beforehand eyes and if you Go ahead an do you will be upset with yourself later.

It sounds to me like your mind wasn’t working too well that particular day (understandable!). Better to have brought the skein in and put it in the bag with the Sunset Highway project. In my experience this will happen again, so be aware that “busy life/appt. times” call for “back to basics actions” where you don’t rely on your memory to tell you where you put things, or what you have to do next.
Write a note to yourself and post it where you’ll see it, or write it in a little black book that you keep with you (or in your kindle). You don’t have to keep up with the unnecessary tasks. No one else is keeping track of your life, and now you have many more things to remember and take care of. It’s up to you to choose where you spend your energy.
This is a difficult time, and you don’t want to create frustrating situations for yourself over and over again, without meaning to.
Good Luck next week with all the appointments and knitting!

I”m sorry you’re having such a tough time right now, but it seems like you and Vince are committed to making the needed changes for the long haul. I think you’ll be much happier if you look through some of those tubs and find that green yarn. You know the minute you finish the sweater with the alternate yarn, you’ll find the green. :0) Good luck.

Ask Boots if he knows anything about it. He’s in the sewing room all the time. : )

Give it a little while and see, you might not have dreamed this! You will be at our group meeting Tuesday won’t you? Even if you have to bring Vince along with you!! We will keep him busy!!
