First, let me apologize for having been a bit vague with what was going on with Vince. I know that not everyone uses Facebook but I’m more likely to put updates there than I am on the blog because I can set those to where only “friends” can see it and here on the blog, anyone and everyone who wants to look can see it. It isn’t that often that there are things I keep quiet about on here but when I’m home alone at night or when we’re both gone and the house is unattended for an extended period, those things will probably not be posted here. Hopefully, nothing like this will happen again but any time you feel like you might be missing out on info, it’s probably on Facebook . . if it’s something I’m going to share.
Monday morning, Vince’s blood pressure was really high and he’d been taking his BP meds. His left arm was hurting and he said he felt like his chest was “tight”. I told him . . something just isn’t right so we decided to make a run to Abilene. We left home a little before 9 and got there about 10:45. They took him right back, did an EKG and said “You’re being admitted”. Monday night, his bottom number on the BP was 117 and may even have gone higher at one point. Yesterday they did a heart cath and he had two arteries that were partially blocked and they did the balloon to open them up. One was blocked enough that it needed a stent. He had a rough night last night but he was able to come home this afternoon.
He said he’s already feeling better but he needs to take it easy for a while. He has 12 weeks of cardiac rehab and still has the sleep study next week so . . he’s hopefully going to be good as new soon.
I have a feeling we will be to bed early tonight and will sleep like rocks . . at least I think I will!

Yay! Vince is home! That’s wonderful! I stay away from Facebook, so had not read anything there about him.
Liz says
Glad to read that Vince is home. Since you mentioned going to the hospital, I figured that it was in Abilene, so I was also worried abut you driving back and forth. Take care of yourselves…..
Liz says
I was thinking about your bushes that need to be planted. Do you know someone who can help you with the garden “opening”? I’m sure that Vince won’t be cleared for that activity for a while.
Is there space in your quilt room to add some exercise equipment so Vince can walk on a treadmill while you knit or quilt. It is air conditioned, so better for exercise than walking around the property, even though walking outside is very good for the soul.
Sandy Kahler says

So happy to hear Vince is feeling better! I hope the sleep study goes well and the cardio rehab is helpful and enjoyable to Vince as he feels better. Both of you, rest up. I’m sure you need it!
Mary M says
So thankful Vince was aware of it and willing to head to the hospital. Good luck with the rehab. Praying for an easy recovery.
Linda in Texas says
So happy to hear that you’re home. I think we all knew something was up. Obviously you know it will be a little while before all is back to normal but you’ll all get there. Our animals were as upset as the humans were until life went back to normal, and I expect yours will be the same. Take care of Vince but be sure to take enough care of yourself. As you know, care taking is physically and emotionally exhausting. But it will get better! Just hang in and hang on.
Tina in NJ says
Both hubby and I have done cardiac rehab. It can get really boring, especially if you aren’t used to exercising on machines. They had the cable oldies station on the TV, but I had podcasts on my phone at least half of the time; I recommend them. We joked that hubby’s rehab would be a trial retirement. Once he was feeling better, hubby didn’t like the restrictions put on him, so he was a bit grumpy. (Hubby had open heart surgery, so his bones had to heal, which takes time.)
Good luck to both of you. We’re all pulling for you both.
Karen Sutton says
I’m glad Vince is on the mend. It’s a scary and stressful time. Take care of yourself as well as Vince.

Laura says
Whew! Glad he had the procedure and is home. I’m going to try to friend you on Facebook. Knew something was up.
Amy Makson says
wow… so glad you went in to the right place and they were able to do the procedures and hopefully Vince will feel MUCH better!
Andrea says
So happy to hear that Vince has been released and is feeling better. Hopefully that is the last of the problems!
Linda in NE says
I’m glad Vince is back home. Probably very happy to sleep in his own bed. Hospitals are no place to get good rest. Wishing him a complete recovery. I’d say hire someone to plant the elderberry bushes and till the garden. Vince can play supervisor while someone else supplies the labor.

My hubs had a plaque build up in 3 of his arteries which caused a severe problem one night when he was driving over the mountains to Denver- Altitude brought it on. So his work rushed him to the hospital and he was in intensive care for 8 days then they transferred him to a step down hospital. The Dr went in and found the plaque thru the groin main artery with the camera, in his heart arteries. The next day they put in 3 stents in the arteries that had the plaque build up, they took a small dremel tool and roto rootered his arteries then inserted the stents. That was in 2013 and he’s been the mountain goat climbing hills, mountains every since when we go out atving or camping looking for rocks or gold.
I hope that Vince has as good of a outcome as my husband did with the stents and life is long and healthy for him.
