I really wanted to make that jeweled cowl that I started the other day and the beads were too big. Several days ago, I woke up way early, got up and started thinking about the cowl and .. I know I said I wouldn’t but I did . . order smaller beads.
I have enough laceweight yarn around here that I don’t mind ordering a few colors of beads. All the ones I ordered were some I thought potentially might go with this red yarn but can be used with other yarns.
One thing with beading, you don’t always want a perfect match. Sometimes you want to make a bold statement with the beads, sometimes you want the color to stand out just a bit and sometimes you may want just the sparkle of the bead without any of the real color catching your attention and then I’d use a matching color.
I kinda like this color. It’s a little peachy and might look totally wrong when actually on the yarn.
These were the ones I decided to use . . yesterday. Today I might choose something totally different. They aren’t as dark as they look in the picture.
When I came home to feed Rita and let her out, I grabbed this skein of yarn, my beading hook and the beads and took them back to the hospital with me. Then I remembered that half the time when beading, I stick a bead in my mouth, which means I used my fingers to get it there. No way was I going to put my hands anywhere near my mouth in that setting so I didn’t start it. Trying to bead in the hospital, especially using those size 8 beads was probably not a good idea aside from the germ issue.
Maybe I’ll get started on that tonight .. hoping Vince gets to come home and we’re not in bed before dark.

Ugh for both of you. Being in the hospital is the pits for everyone (unless you’re unconcious! LOL) Can’t get any rest, lots of germs, blah, blah. I, too, hope you guys get home early today!!

Wishing Vince a speedy recovery.

Beading at the hospital probably will be difficult. I hope Vince is feeling better today, and the conversion helped.

I never got my knitting out at the hospital today. We had visitors and then dealing with doctors and nurses and calling around trying to get a sleep study scheduled, and an appointment in Abilene with a cardio there and . . then he was discharged! So thankful to have him home!

How is Vince doing?
BTW, has Vince ever been checked for acid reflux? I had silent GERD with the presenting symptom being hoarseness. I changed what I ate and drank, especially before sleeping, and made sure I stayed up for a while before laying down. I took drugs for a while until the dietary changes took effect and then I weaned myself off the drugs (with doctor approval).
But, my mom also was treated for GERD but would stop taking the pills when she felt better. However, she went to the ER a couple of times complaining of chest pains. The doctors kept her in for a few days for tests because of her age and medical history. But the tests always showed no heart issues. I flew up to Michigan the first couple times when I got the call that she was in the ER – the first trip involved going directly to airport without luggage, keys, etc. By the third time, I mentioned to the person driving her to tell the ER doctors that Mom had GERD but wasn’t compliant with taking the medicines. They gave her some chalky liquid as a test and her “pain” subsided. I think she still was at the hospital for a day, but avoided the major stress tests and a 3 day stay in CCU.

He does have acid reflux and has been to the ER a couple of times thinking it was a heart attack. He also has learned what not to drink or eat late in the day. The other night, he took the “magic potion” that he has when the reflux gets terrible but it didn’t help and this time, it was really his heart.

Hope Vince is on the road to recovery soon….

Oh Judy, however can you sound so mellow with Vince at the hospital? I wish him wellness soon. You take care too, stress is not good. Hugs. Liz
Judy Laquidara says
How was I supposed to sound? I did the best I could to help and care for him but me sitting there fretting wouldn’t help him or me. I did one of the things that makes me happy and relieves my stress . . I write!

Smart move! I would not have wanted to put anything near my mouth either!

Glad to hear that you and Vince are getting the care and attention needed to get through this stressful time. I have the same stress with my DH about pains in his “solar plexis” and wonder what things Vince found out to avoid before going to bed. I think I know a bunch of them, but you know men, they tend not to pay attention to the “female advice” but if another man told them or a doctor, it would be believed.
