The chickens have to know what we’re doing and they can actually get in the way when I’m out trying to work. No matter what I put down on the ground or in a chair, they’re all over it.
I went out this afternoon to get some pictures of the apple tree. I’m betting we have blossoms opening by tomorrow. I wish they weren’t doing this so early but not much I can do about it.
As soon as the chickens see me over there looking at something, they have to come running so they can see too.
Monkey see, monkey do! They see one chicken coming, they’re all going to come.
They all get there and they can’t quite figure out what I’m looking at. Or, they’re as anxious as I am for apples. Last year, they figured out how to get the apples off the tree and while I was leaving them on the tree to ripen, the chickens would fly up and peck, fly up and peck and keep doing that til they knocked the apples down. If we want apples, we’re going to have to fence off the tree but it was so comical to watch them, it might be worth it to let them have the apples.
Later I was outside the fence and this one jumped up on this barrel so she could see what I was doing. I have the barrel in there to use as a “table” so I don’t have to bend over when scrubbing and filling their water buckets.
Chickens really are so personable and friendly . . and aggravating when they have to have their noses in everything I’m doing. I don’t even know if chickens have noses but . . they’re under foot the whole time I’m out in the orchard.

Chickens have those two little nostrils on their beak. So yes they are noses?

Yes, they are pretty goofy. Gonna be chicken sitting here in a couple of weeks so will join you in being followed around in the yard.

LOL, Stacey says the same. She sits in the coop with them and they hop up on her knees and chat with her. LOL Your apple tree looks ready to pop open, definitely. I hope you aren’t going to get some major cold front going through now, though. =P

The pictures of them all coming over to the tree are very entertaining!

Yep I’ve always found chickens really inquisitive and very comical to watch.

Do the cats not bother the chickens? I would like to have chickens but I worry that my two cats, dedicated hunters, would try to kill them. I think my dogs would leave them alone. What do you think?

Your chickens are so pretty! I would love to photograph them sometime! I think I might even like to paint one of them. Not the chicken itself but on canvas or paper! LOL
