Every time we go to clean the bunny barn, I have to laugh and I always think . . if my friends could see me now!
We have friends here who have quite a few rabbits. They keep them in raised cages inside a climate controlled barn. They sweep the poop up into piles and when they get a lot of it, they call us to come shovel it into buckets and bring it home for the garden and fruit trees. We’re really lucky to be able to get it and I think they’re happy that we come shovel it and haul it away.
While you’re enjoying your quiet Saturday morning, Vince and I are making multiple trips down the road a bit to shovel poop and bring it home! It’s so good for the garden, and it’s a project we can do together so even though it’s a dirty job, we enjoy our time together doing it.
There are cows on the land and I’m always begging Vince to walk around with me and pick up cow poop and he won’t do that but he’ll usually follow me around with the truck so I can pick up some cow patties.
My friends from my youth would never believe the things I do nowadays!

There is nothing better than bunny berries for gardening! Years ago when we raised Flemish giants and New Zealand whites for meat we used to pile up the bunny berries upon our rhubarb in out raised beds. We had sweet juicy rhubarb stalks 5’ tall and 2” in diameter and with leaves big enough to use as umbrellas! We have one bunny now that was a pet of our daughter before she got married and moved into a no-pets apartment. I grew the world’s most sweet, tastiest cherry tomatoes in a pot that was 9/10 bunny berries/wood chips. I will definitely be duplicating that this coming growing season!

This post had me laughing out loud. I can just picture Vince and you collecting bunny berries! And can hear his reply when asked to get the cow poop. You two are so funny.

I was about 15 and we lived on a farm. Daddy got one tractor stuck in the muddy sand. He came to the house and asked me to go with him so we could pull the little tractor out with the big one. We did and I was driving that huge John Deere home and had to go down the highway. One of my teachers was going down the road and I thought he was going to wreck his car laughing! Here was this 100 lb (or less then) driving a Huge tractor! He had never seen a girl on a tractor before! LOL He obviously never lived or worked on a farm! We did everything the boys did!
