Last night I knitted to 13″ and started the ribbing. I have a sweater that I made that’s too short. I wear it with a white shirt with tails and let the tails hang out because I don’t like the length of the sweater. I measured it this morning and it’s 14″ so I ripped back the ribbing I had started last night and I’m going to go ahead and knit to 15″, then do at least 2″ of ribbing. Ribbing has a tendency to flare out if it’s not deep enough so I may well decide to go 3″.
I’ll make that decision after doing 2″ and seeing how it looks.
I knitted while on the phone with the electric company this morning but haven’t touched it since. I’m tired tonight and have a busy today tomorrow so I think I’m going to bed early without knitting tonight.
I’m a bit aggravated with myself. I knew I wasn’t going to do the colorwork on the sleeves as shown on the pattern but in looking at the projects online, some of them with no colorwork on the sleeves look a little plain. I found one that had a bit of colorwork near the cuff and I liked it but, I used Moorland (green), which is a discontinued color and there’s not enough left to use it. The purple was leftovers from another project and there isn’t enough of that and it’s also discontinued. I have plenty of the pink but the pink wouldn’t show up against the speckled yarn. I do have another partial skein of Moorland but it may be just a bit. I need to dig it out and see if I can use it on the sleeve to add just a little color. If not, I’ll go with the plain sleeves.
When I start the sleeves, I think I’m going to try doing both sleeves at once on one set of circular needles. I’ve never done that before but it surely would be nice to get them both done at the same time!

Judy, I think having plain sleeves lets the yoke be the star of the show, but that’s just me. After looking at some of the sweaters on Ravelry, I like what MadMad did… she knit 5” of ribbing on the cuffs to give the plain sleeves some interest. Looks great. Just an idea. I know whatever you do will look great! On a side note, I near the Sunset Highway. Yes, the designer lives in Oregon now. 🙂

I love the way the piece is looking and I think I agree with Joyce that plain sleeves will let the yoke be the star.
