After living where it so rarely rains, I’ll never (maybe) complain about the rain. We’ve had pretty much a whole week of rain in Louisiana. Here are some before and after pictures of the bayou.
The above photo was taken several days ago from the deck. You an see a little piece of the bayou.
This is the bayou today.
Here’s another photo from a few days ago.
Here’s the same area this afternoon.
Lots of rain and the ground was already soaked. I don’t think there’s any danger of flooding but it surely has messed up the Mardi Gras parades around town.

Pretty before pictures after pictures make me a little nervous.

It’s amazing, but people are used to living on the bayou, aren’t they? I know my aunt talked about it, and houses are higher, generally, or farther away so there isn’t often flooding unless there’s a hurricane or something. I had forgotten Mardi Gras – yes, a very wet parade time! We’re having that rain, too, now. A week of it is forecast, and more. I don’t mind. I’ll stay home and quilt!

I wish the preacher would turn in the pledges so we might get some rain! I know we have been praying for it. We now have a burn ban and it is getting bad here!! I know they would be glad to share the rain with us!

We need rain (or snow) here too. Some winter wheat is “greening” but many fields are too thirsty!
