It’s probably safe to say that Rita has adjusted well to this trip.
My uncle has two dogs and he’s keeping his “grandpuppy” so, with Rita, there are four dogs here. Bandit is a chihuahua but he has a serious heart condition and is pretty quiet; Sunshine is part chihuahua, Rita and Muffin is a prissy little Yorkie. When we were all together at Christmas, Rita and Sunshine were determined that one of them had to go . . whatever it took. We had to keep them separated. We bought a doggie playpen and brought it but Vince has been putting a leash on her and then he gives her a little slack and he wraps the leash around his arm so she can’t get away. I think Sunshine had figured out to stay off the sofa except yesterday morning, at one point, Sunshine hopped up on the end of the sofa and didn’t bother Rita and either Rita never knew she was there or didn’t care. If we had them together often, I think they would be fine.
But for this trip, we’re keeping them separated. We don’t want any injuries.

My daughter has two little chihuahua mixes and although they spend all their time together and clearly love each other they will fight at the drop of a hat. It’s frightening and terrible to behold. It sounds positively vicious but neither one has ever been injured. No scratches, no blood, nothing. It’s crazy and it would scare you to death so I agree with your technique.

Rita is so adorable. Never seen a dog slept in the positions that she does
Judy Laquidara says
She’s like me. The minute she gets horizontal, she’s asleep and it doesn’t matter how she lands . . she’s out!
Nelle Coursey says
She is so sweet. I wouldn’t trade her either!
