I’ve been gone from Lake Charles for over 20 years. So much has changed, and that’s normal. The traffic, because the city has grown so much, and the roads have not, is pretty unbelievable. Every time we’re on one of the interstates, I halfway hold my breath til we get back on the side roads. Had I stayed here, and gotten used to this much traffic, it would have been fine. I’m used to driving on a Texas highway with a speed limit of 75 miles per hour and rarely seeing another vehicle.
I think I’ve already said that when we got to Lake Charles Saturday evening, we saw four different car accidents. Yesterday, we were on the interstate and got caught in traffic for another accident. An 18 wheeler carrying a backhoe with the bucket too high hit an overpass. There were concrete pieces everywhere. The local news had a story about it.
Can you imagine having been the first car behind that 18 wheeler? That would have scared me to death!
That’s why Vince said in one of his blog posts that we want to live where there’s not much traffic. I am not a city girl!

So not Lake Charles, then.

No. Vince doesn’t have any desire to live here. I was pretty sure he wouldn’t want to live around here but it never hurts to try.

We love the Texas back roads – drove from Rockwall to Georgetown without getting on the interstate. Lovely drive and no traffic or semis. Wish the bluebells were in bloom.
