The first Sock Society is named Winter Rose. I’m using stash yarn (YAY!) . . it’s Sweet Georgia, Tough Love Sock, and the color is Wisteria. I wound it and brought it with me because I knew the first pattern was being released yesterday. I don’t know what I was thinking because I only made one skein and since I prefer to knit two at a time, I needed to have two skeins. Some knitters will knit from the center of the skein and from the outside of the skein, which will work so long as you don’t have an obvious design (like stripes in a sequence) but I think I would get terribly tangled trying to do it that way.
I didn’t bring my kitchen scale and briefly thought about running to Walmart and getting one so I could weigh the yarn and know when I had divided it in half. I didn’t have a swift with me so I sat down and would it into two balls and “guestimated” half.
Last night I made a little progress. I didn’t knit at all today but with the day winding down, I should get some knitting done this evening.
I’m always looking for signs or seeing meaning in things where there may or may not be meaning but this one made me smile. I’m sitting in my aunt’s chair knitting. For those who don’t know, my aunt passed away in November. There’s a shelf by her chair and that’s where I put my knitting last night when I was done. When I went to pick it up this morning, I realized there’s a box on the shelf and that’s what I had placed my knitting on.
I’m not sure what it is. I’m not sure if I should check it out or if that would be nosey. But the big letters say “Dream”. In smaller letters, it says “trust, appreciate, explore, prosper, create, imagine”. There are hydrangea, lily and wisteria blooms on the box. The color of my yarn is Wisteria. That struck me as funny . . in an interesting way.

You’ve got a good start on the cuffs. I found my yarn, a pretty variegated red, downloaded my pattern and looked for my two #1 cable needles. I think the lace is very pretty, and your color is lovely.

I saw the pattern image on Ravelry after it was released and knew your yarn color would be so pretty in it. Lovely.

You could ask about it? That’s making a pretty set of socks. I’d never manage it, but you make it seem easy. =)

I find that the older I get the more coincidences like this happen. I’m not sure if they always did but I didn’t notice or if it’s happening more now that I’ve got several family members who have passed. Either way, I’ll take these little moments that make me stop to reflect on someone who’s gone and smile.

I often wonder the same thing . . did these “coincidences” happen always and I was in too much of a hurry to notice them. Like you, I appreciate them now and hope I always notice them.

Your aunt is granting her approval for you being there! I had a box like this once and it came with stationary that matched the outside of the box. Maybe that is what this is. I am sure she is smiling knowing you are loving her chair like she did. There are reasons and meanings for everything! It is not a coincidence the box title is Wisteria!
Judy Laquidara says
I’m sure that it’s a stationary box because I noticed a glass display case that has what looks like a lot of pretty stationary boxes.

I think she is sending you a message – and because she is sending you a message she would not mind you looking into the box!
