My uncle is making sure we see all the sights and eat all the good food. We may run down to Cameron Parish today. He’s wanting to get some crabs. If it’s raining, we probably won’t go and as of this minute, it’s raining. It’s so funny to be back where it rains almost every day now that I’m used to only getting rain two or three times a year. I love rain. I love green grass. I love camelias and gardenias and magnolias . . BIG magnolias.
Sorry I wouldn’t walk out in the drizzle and get a better picture but my uncle has camelias all over the place.
No place is perfect as far as retirement but dang, I love Louisiana. The food! The B.E.S.T. The people are friendly.
The sales tax is the highest in the nation. The crime in this area is out of control. The traffic is not comparable to Dallas but considering the roads and infrastructure, the area has grown way too much way too quickly. Any retirement guru would say stay away from this area. My heart says: I’ll stay here and Vince can go home and get our stuff!
I could sit all day and watch the rain fall on the bayou. This is a little part of it that I can see from the living room window. Lazy girl . . I should get up and go take better pictures but it is raining a bit harder now.
Even if we don’t go down to Cameron Parish, we can probably buy crabs at The Seafood Palace this afternoon. I followed my uncle right over there by the Palace this morning so he could leave one of his vehicles to get it detailed. I’ll have to take him back this afternoon to pick it up so it will all workout perfectly . . rain or no rain.

I love East Texas for a lot of the same reasons. Boy, do I miss it! A few more of your post and I am heading to ET for a few days. It will always be home to me. Have fun and make lots of wonderful memories.

Just yesterday, I shared a FB post about being from (western) Washington state. I totally sympathize on the climate change (but I do like sun…). Whenever I see pictures of my old neighborhood, I am struck by all. the. trees! and how green. everything. is! Right now is the only time of year our lawn approaches green.

It’s funny what different things people like. I could enjoy that for about … three days. Then I’d be pining for my desert again. The week I spent in Tucson was so fabulous, I really want to go back and stay, but it isn’t in the cards. Still there’s Abilene, and there are places in Nevada that I like. It could happen! Enjoy your time there. The bayou looks amazing.
