I seem to have weird habits about my breakfast. I will eat the same thing for months. I don’t know why I do that because we never have the same thing every day for weeks and weeks for any other meal. Not too long ago, I ate oatmeal every morning. On weekends, we often had other things in addition to oatmeal. Most recently, I’ve had eggs . . every single morning . . eggs.
A week or so ago, I switched to a breakfast drink and I’m loving it. Know that I seem to have the ability to turn an otherwise healthy dish into something not so healthy!
It starts with unsweetened homemade yogurt, a little honey, a little chocolate syrup . . not much of either, a little banana and milk. The magic ingredient is oatmeal. I start with whole oats.
They make a trip through the FlicFloc, which is one of those gadgets that has earned a permanent position in my kitchen.
I use about 1 tablespoon of rolled oats in my drink.
The oats give the drink texture and a bit of a nutty flavor.
Stick the immersion blender right in the jar, blend it all up.
Then, I put a lid on the jar, place it in the freezer. Then I go out and do my outside chores and when I come back in, it’s like a thick, slushy drink. It’s quite filling. I’m not saying it’s the most healthy breakfast but thinking back on some of the breakfasts I’ve enjoyed through the years (Pop-Tarts, donuts, cookies), it’s’ not bad . . and it’s very tasty! More good news: The stick blender just makes a quick dunk in the sink and it’s clean. The empty jar gets rinsed and goes in the dishwasher. Breakfast mess is clean!

Sounds healthy to me! My first thought was that it had ice cream in it.

Instant Breakfast with ice cream! I must try that, it will use up the instant breakfast that is sitting on my shelf….of course, that means I will no longer be eating my six thawed, mashed raspberries with a cup of rice chex and a TBsp of honey wheat puffs over the top. Add a 1/2 tsp of sugar, a little milk, and there’s my go-to breakfast of at least one year so far.

My go-to breakfast has been two eggs over easy, on an english muffin with two slices of provolone cheese and a couple slices of canadian bacon. I had it timed perfectly and it was much better than Braums. But this week, I changed to avocado and tomato on a whole wheat sandwich round. The avocados were on sale at Aldi’s for 39 cents each so I have a few more days of this breakfast…..

Sounds to me like it is healthy. Yogurt is good for you and so is honey. Bananas help give you essential vitamins and believe it or not a little chocolate is also good for you!!

You have the best kitchen equipment! I just checked out the Grain Flaker. I don’t need one. I sure would like one! I now have an EZ Melter for cheese that you wrote about and it’s great!
