I have no idea what it is but this is something on the trail cam from last night. It was passing through quickly because there are photos of us walking past and cat walking past and they’re clear images so whatever this is . . it was running.
Here’s a picture taken of Cat this morning just a couple of hours after the critter went through. I think the critter is bigger than Cat. In the photo of Cat below, he was closer to the camera than the critter is.
Is it Cat? I’d like to think it is Cat but I don’t think it is. Is it something else? If so, what? I don’t think it’s a raccoon or a skunk. We get those on the cameras often and they don’t walk like this.
Whatever it is, it’s right where the digging was last week and it’s right up against our house.
Faye Llombart says
I think it has the stance of a raccoon.
Lee Ann says
That looks like a raccoon.

the digging pic looked like sharp claws, and racoons have sharp claws – that’s my best guess. and they are mean! we had one standing on her hind legs looking thru the screen and growling at us! very uncomfortable feeling knowing the screen couldn’t stop her if she really wanted to come thru.
Teri says
It resembles a raccoon.
Lynn D in NC says
Armadillo?
shirley swift-bruner says
looks like a coon to me
Marsha B says
I also think it is a raccoon from the shape of the back and the feet. If something was after it, it could be streaking past as fast as it can, but the camera didn’t pick up anything in close pursuit. Hmmmmm….
Diane Masschaele says
Sure looks like a raccoon to me…..the image resembles our raccoons found here in Ontario, ?? Canada. Ps….love your blogs.
Ruth Chow says
Maybe it’s a Tasmanian Devil!
Nelle Coursey says
Looks like a raccoon to me but could it be an armadillo?
Linda in NE says
Racoon.
Dar in MO says
I too thought it was a racoon before I read the comments. Now I see that this is the unanimous answer, lol Maybe it will be on the camera again another night,

Adding my vote to raccoon…
Carol Craven says
Vote raccoon
Laura Haynes says
Shape and slenderness of paws, nose shape, hunch of the back, thickness of the body… looks like a blur of a raccoon to me.

So far it looks like we’re all in agreement- except you! I agree with the others and think it’s a raccoon…
marcille irwin says
I agree with the others saying that it is a raccoon
Maggie says
I think the critter has longer legs than Cat.
