It appears all is well with the yarn packages. This is what I saw when I checked tracking this morning.
I’m not complaining. I understand about the weather issues but a priority mail package that left the Atlanta area on 1/10 and was supposed to arrive on 1/13 arrives on 1/18. If they had been scanned along the way or even a note about the delay, I wouldn’t have been concerned. But, from the time they were scanned at Atlanta on 1/10, until they arrived in Lubbock very early this morning, there was not one single mention of what was happening with them. They arrive in Lubbock just after midnight, then were sent to Abilene and then to Brownwood. They made that trip in about 6 hours.
I’ll never understand how the post office or UPS or Fed Ex manages to do what they do and be right as often as they are so, really, I’m not complaining.
I was thinking the other day about how far we’ve come . . from being able to get online, order stuff, have it shipped that same day, track it every step along the way and have it arrive just about anywhere in the U.S. in two to three days .. that’s pretty amazing. I remember as a kid mailing letters to my grandma, who lived two hours away and figuring it would take about five days for the letter to get to her.
It wasn’t even THAT long ago when, if you wanted to order something, you called the company, got the total and sent a check. That required waiting for the check to arrive, or clear the bank, then waiting for much slower shipping. Times have changed so much even in my lifetime. I’m sure people even Chad’s age cannot comprehend ordering before the days of everyone taking credit cards and pay pal.
On the other hand, if ordering wasn’t so easy, maybe we’d have more money and less stuff! But, what fun would that be?

the post office tracking leaves much to be desired. a package to me (colorado to wa state) mailed dec. 22 just arrived this week. tracking the whole time was “on its way to destination” with no details until it “arrived in GUAM!” and was being re-routed to destination. just over a week later i picked up my 2-day priority mail package that took 16 days. i know it sometimes happens but recently (past 3 months) i’ve heard many similar stories.

it is information at your fingertips that amazes me. Anything you want to know, you just pick up your phone (assuming you aren’t already holding it) and google it. I went to libraries to be able to research to write papers, even college libraries in high school. My internet as a kid was browsing the encyclopedia Britannica.
I love learning so it is great to me. I will still find myself using a book, like when I went to learn to knit. Finally it dawned on me, look at youtube silly. Some days I am out shopping and I am like why didn’t I just get on amazon and order this. What am I doing out spending hours looking for something. I even ordered a coat on amazon. Got here just in time for the freeze too. Reviews said it ran big so I knew it would fit and it is perfect.

I was in the same boat with my order from Webs. It shipped on the 8th, then nothing until it showed it was scanned in Little Rock on the 17th. Then I checked at about 7pm on the 17th and it said it left on my front porch only it wasn’t there. I put a note on the neighborhood FB page to let them know in case it was mis-delivered. Then yesterday it was in my mail box. So weird! But I am extremely happy to have my package… some new sock needles. Hope you package gets to you soon.

I have a story better than that! I sent a letter to my grandparents in Bronte addressed as follows:
Nana and Grandad Rogers
Bronte, Texas
And they got it!! Today they would not even deliver it without a zip code or address!! My grandparents had a PO box and if you don’t know anything about Bronte, it is a very small town and everyone knows everyone! Besides my grandfather built the “Domino Hall” which we all knew was a front for late night poker parties and he was always a big winner!! LOL Love my Grandad! He was a second cousin to Will Rogers! Irony runs in the family! LOL

Well, my last package had tracking on it. They sent an email when it was delivered and even sent a picture of the package when it was delivered. Only problem was it wasn’t my house where they left the package. When I contacted the company they told me to check with my neighbors! I’ll stick with the Post Office anytime.

I remember ordering something and waiting “4 to 6 weeks” to receive it. We’ve come a long way.
