Still working on Free Your Fade.
Tonight I “faded” into color #2. The pattern is written for three full skeins of yarn but I’m using the leftovers from the five skeins I used in my faded socks project. I began the first fade section after reaching 70 stitches. The first yarn is Yarn Love’s Goldilocks Fingering in the 50 Shades of Yay color.
Last night after posting the picture here and on my Ravelry page, I had a lady write me and ask what color the yarn was because it was such a nice shade of yellow and yellows can be hard to find. I responded and told her I would take some daylight pictures and post them because the isn’t as yellow as it appeared in the photos. Here’s the photo from last night that appears more yellow.
That photo was taken in the bedroom with our bad lighting. The photo shown at the top with the green yarn added, was taken under the Ott light in the living room.
The photo above was taken outside this morning in natural light. See what a huge difference lighting makes? It’s more obvious in some colors than others. Even the comforter looks yellow in the photo taken in the bedroom but it’s white as can be. That’s why I prefer to take as many of my photos as I can outside about mid-morning. When I was quilting a lot, I had a setup with a white background and good lighting. I’ve never set anything up like that here so . . on the porch, usually on the cooler or in the chair . . nothing fancy but I do the best I can.

Wow now that is amazing they are enormously different. Is the bottom one on a white bsckground? the Background looks blue. Have you tried photo shop like avairy to fix and make the real colors? I use it and it is free and works great on phone .I can fix just about any photo and color problem with it

I have several editing programs. I like Paint Shop Pro best but most of the photos of knitting items in progress are straight out of the phone . . just posted quickly. Those late night posts are more about progress. I’m usually snapping a photo and posting just as I’m about to fall asleep because I’ve knitted til I can no longer hold my eyes open.

I’m surprised at the difference between the Ott light and daylight, but that’s an illustration of why I try to pick appliqué thread colors by daylight.

We have such poor lighting in this house. We’ve replaced bulbs and done about all we can do short of adding more lights and at this point, we just live with it.
