We’ve all heard the old saying . . be careful what you ask for, right? Well, here’s my story. I ordered a bit of yarn . . seriously, it wasn’t much but it was in two packages because I placed two small orders. Tracking info said it was going to arrive on January 13. Oh, dear! That’s a Saturday and you know who would be home to see two boxes of yarn arrive. So, I kinda hoped it would be late and late it is! Sunday, of course, no mail for those of us who live in the sticks. I hear some people get mail on Sunday. We do not. I’m surprised they still deliver out here six days a week. I think it’s a waste and they should deliver every other day or less but that’s just me being selfish and figuring I could hide packages easier one or two days a week vs. six days a week.
Then, Monday was a holiday. Who knows if we’ll get mail tomorrow due to the weather and if we do,I have to get to the end of the driveway to get boxes, which may or may not happen.
The tracking info basically says the packages will get there when they get here. They haven’t been scanned since they left Atlanta on the 10th. The tracking says “The item is currently in transit to the destination” and that is what it has said every day since January 10. Usually it will say the package arrived in Lubbock, TX and then the package is leaving Lubbock, TX and then package arrived in Abilene, TX and so on til it gets to my waiting hands. Not these two. They just say they are in transit . . somewhere!
Is this my fault for hoping they didn’t get here on Saturday as scheduled? Thank goodness it’s just a couple of small packages of yarn because I’m beginning to wonder if they’re going to make it.
I did hear or read that mail going through Memphis over the weekend may be delayed because of the weather. I’m guessing this may have gone through Memphis but since it’s never been scanned anywhere except Atlanta, I have no idea.
My luck, these two packages will wander around the country and show up on Saturday, the 20th, and then I’ll have some ‘splaining to do . . a week later than expected.

That gives you a few days to come up with an explanation for the “splaining”. I have faith you can come up with a good excuse!

Wait until he retires!!! I’ve found it much more difficult to get fabric into the house since my hubby retired. I really do have enough fabric to start my own store, so he tends to get upset when he sees more arrive. Usually I can tell him “I won it!”, even though if I DID win it, I still had to pay postage….I just forget to mention that. Now if I’m out, I can stop at the mailbox on my way home and hide it in the car until he’s gone, at which time I run out, grab it from the car, open the package and make all the packing stuff disappear. Once the fabric is with the stash, he has no clue how long it’s been there. Oh the tangled webs we weave…. 🙂

I have the same problem with a package being delayed. I have an order from Webs that according to the tracking was shipped on the Jan 8th. The tracking info has it delayed in route. The last update was Jan 12th. I don’t know where it is either or why it was delayed.

Judy, if it arrives while he’s home, just say, “It’s about time this got here! I ordered it back in the summer, but there was a production delay and they finally shipped it! I never thought I would see this! It IS a nice little surprise to have show up now, since I can’t buy yarn because of the budget, isn’t it?” 🙂

I have a friend who works for UPS in Nashville. She said for the last week, they’ve been having about half the crew come in – flu or weather or whatever – and they had 3+ inches of snow, which doesn’t sound like all that much, but when you add in the temperature tonight is about 5, then yeah, I think a lot of packages all over the place are delayed. It’s going to show up, though … probably Saturday. =)
