Edit: Talked to the internet guy and he said they changed something out this morning and it sometimes takes about 24 hours for all websites to be “accepted” (or something like that). At least I know it wasn’t anything I did, or could fix on my end.
When the internet isn’t working right, that just puts a burr under my saddle for the entire day! This morning before Vince was awake, I grabbed my tablet and read the new posts on Ravelry. About mid-morning, I went to look something up on Ravelry and it kept timing out. I figured it was a Ravelry issue, tried a few times and it never worked. By about noon, I realized that accuweather and some of the other sites I frequent weren’t loading either. I tried rebooting my computer. Nope. I tried the iPad. Nope. I tried the Samsung tablet. Nope. I tried my phone. Nope. I rebooted the router. Nope! I knew that many sites wouldn’t be down with so many other sites working fine so I connected to the hot spot and it works on there. Went back to the home network. Nope .. half the sites I try work and half don’t. I called our ISP and haven’t heard back from them yet
Do you know how many times during a blog post, I link to something on Ravelry? Do you know I could miss a flash sale or something better without Ravelry open? I have to sign out of the home network, sign into the hot spot, get what I need off Ravelry, sign off, get back on the home network. I don’t want to stay on the hot spot because I don’t want to use up too much data. Darn! It is frustrating. I allow it to be frustrating. I should walk away and forget about the internet til Vince gets home to see what he can do about it.
I sent him an email. Told him I had contacted the ISP. I told him I was thankful for the hot spot and this is his response:
He’s going to think “hot” if he gets home and I still can’t get on Ravelry without having to sign out of the home service and sign onto the hot spot. To make matters worse, most of my devices don’t even have the hot spot password and I don’t know what it is . . nor do I even know where the hot spot is currently residing so I can go see if the password is on the box. I knew where it was . . but that’s not where it is now.
My grandparents never had this problem! 🙂

Oh my Vince is such a man!!! I hear ya as far as not being able to access sites … where we live similar issues we have to get rerouted pain in the butt! After unplugging things booting things back up etc what an issue … and now we are rerouted miles and miles from where we live.. so you have same issue apparently… so frustrating….wasting time..non productive …

Your computer isn’t going to pull much data from your hotspot unless you are streaming. My computer pulls less than 1 gig a day.

It does use a lot with the photos I upload because I think it takes data to send them from my phone and to upload them to the blog, along with you tube videos for “how to” knitting, video chatting with Addie. Also, we don’t have cable so anything we watch is streamed through the internet. We have to closely watch our data usage if we’re not using the home server, which truly is unlimited. The only limitation is . . it has to be working for us to be able to use it! 🙂

UGH!! I went through this a couple of days ago and KNOW how annoying it is but even more so as I don’t have a hot spot! Fri. am everything was fine then I ran a couple of errands and came back to zip, zilch, nada! Called tech service and after trying a few things the guy said a tech would need to come out but not until Sun. WHAT?! I found out on Nextdoor that it was a WIDE outage and was supposed to come back in the wee hours of Sat. Fortunately my nextdoor neighbor has an unsecure connection so I was using their HORRIBLY slow but still operational internet (no clue how that all works). It really does suck to be without internet/wifi/all connectivity. And I can remember when we never had to worry about all this stuff! LOL

LOL, no and your grandmother didn’t have the time to knit and quilt that you do, either. =) Or, come to think of it, maybe she used her computer time that way!
