When Speck was a puppy and we taught him to go into his crate, we’d do it by tossing a warm towel or sheet into the crate and he’d go running in there. Then it got to where every time I took clothes out of the dryer, Speck expected something warm in his crate and I usually made him happy. Every few days I would get get down on the floor and dig out all the clothes, towels, etc. that had gotten tossed in the crate, re-wash them and start over.
I fold clothes on the sofa and once she learned I was dumping warm clothes, she wanted to bury herself in them but I don’t want her in our clean clothes so I will cover her in something warm . . sometimes a towel, sometimes a t-shirt, sometimes a sweatshirt. Today, she got one of Vince’s sweatshirt. It’s crazy, I suppose, to take something clean, cover the dog, and then have to re-wash it but it makes her happy.
And it makes me happy to make her happy so . . I do it!

My hubby always does that when I’m cold. My dryer is in the garage (don’t ask!) so during the winter, especially, he takes the clothes out and brings them back in when they’re dry. When I wash towels he’ll make sure they’re nice and warm when he brings them in, and wraps one around my shoulders. 🙂 One of the reasons we’ve been together for 40 years!!

I think it is very nice and natural to do little comforting things for those we love! Our furry companions fill our hearts and give us joy! Of course we want to give back!

Rita is adorable. Just makes you want to pick her up and give her a hug. I also know you would probably give bit it you did. Had little boys like her.

Maybe you could start throwing in something that is HERS, like an old sweatshirt no one is wearing, and then you wouldn’t have to rewash all your clothes. It doesn’t even have to be washed, just throw it in the dryer with the clothes and it will be toasty!
