Chad and Nicole were both off work one day in the middle of the week and they took Addie to a nearby ice skating rink.
It’s so hard to believe how quickly this girl is growing. Not only is she physically getting bigger, but she’s maturing and when I go for weeks without seeing her . . more like months without seeing her . . every day seems to make such a huge difference at this age.
She has long legs for her size. They always look even longer in pictures.
I talked to Chad this morning and he said that she has not stopped talking about ice skating. There’s a roller skating rink closer to them and they’re going to take her there.
They may not be perfect parents . . who is, but I love all the things they do with her.

I enjoyed roller skating as a child. I had the old kind that attached to your shoes to use on our sidewalk. We have a couple of skating rinks, so those were great fun. We didn’t have an ice skating rink in our town, so I never ice skated until I was out of high school. I’ve only ice skated once in my life! I’m old enough now, I’m not sure I ever want to again. The thought of broken bones is front and center in my mind… Addie looks like she’s having a great time!

Wow, that picture by the side of the rink shows just how tall she is getting! She wasn’t turning her ankles in, so that was good. Do either of them ice skate? I remember the ones that went over the shoes, but I also remember going on Saturday morning to the roller rink and having times for various ages so smaller children could skate without getting run over. I loved it!

I used to love to ice skate. I was never very good, but sure did have fun. In our city we had a field near the elementary school that the fire department would flood every year and it became our outdoor skating rink. Everyone was there. We also had an indoor rink, but it was a distance away and we could only go when a parent would drive us there.

How wonderful that she is interested in ice skating and they are willing to take her. Do either of them ice skate? I starting my love of skating on the indoor roller skating place we had. It was the thing to do on Sat mornings and they had special times for different ages. I loved watching the “adults” who did the couples dancing demos every time. I could not imagine how they could go backwards and turns so easily as if they were walking on flat ground. I wanted to learn to do that…never did! but I did learn not to fall when going around corners fast and eventually could turn backwards very slowly. I liked the skating outfits you got to wear too. 🙂 Ice skating came in college.
