One of the ESK badge projects for this year is “Melting Moments” and it requires that you use at least three yarns to create a “fade” where the colors transition one to the other in a gradual fade. Melting Moments results in 10 points.
Another badge project is “Cross Contamination’ where you use yarn from at least three different dyers. That is so hard for me! I don’t like mixing or . . contaminating! Cross Contamination yields 20 points.
Other badges I can earn from this project:
- Stash Diver – 10 points
- Fill Your Boots – 10 points
If I can get these socks made in a week, which I should be able to do, I’ll qualify for Speedy Crafter (20 points). So, if I am able to do all this, that’s 70 points for one pair of socks. The speedy crafter is the only one I may not make. I’ll probably start these Tuesday afternoon after I get home from knitting. I don’t think I have anything else planned for the rest of the week.
These are the yarns I initially chose.
I’m afraid the yarn in the middle is going to stripe and I don’t want striping so I’ll probably leave that one out. I really wanted it to transition to the green on the right of it but I just don’t want striping.
I’m excited to get started but I want to get Vince’s socks finished first. I’m just fixing to turn the heel on them and then I’ll start on the foot. You should see some good progress in tonight’s late night knitting report.

LOL – I was just reading posts in the Melting/Fade thread on Rav and then when I got to your blog I thought – hey those are the exact same colors I just saw. I always have to do a double take with the dogs ravatar. Great colors. I’ve got some Yarn Love I pulled out for a project – I’ve never used that kind before and think I bought it last year or the “try a new dyer/base” badge.
