It’s been a good first week as far as knitting goes.
I want these reports to be useful to me so I’m trying to include more information . . like which projects I deleted from the queue and how I got to the number of UFOs from last week . . how many were finished, how many were added. I also feel like I need an accountant! Once the queue list is cleaned up, this should be easier.
Patterns Added:
- Neruda – This is a triangle shaped shawl. The patterns calls for 1150 yards of worsted/DK weight yarn. I thought about using Miss Babs’ Yowza but don’t have enough of one color in my stash so I’m going with Cascade 220 (non-superwash) in a light blue.
- Hue Shift Afghan – This one comes from Knit Picks and isn’t quite as easy to get/store as your typical Ravelry pattern.
- Pradera Wrap – free
- All my Stitches – free
- Greenleaf Lace Shawl – discounted til 1/7
Yarn Added:
Yarn came in that was ordered in 2017. A bit of yarn was ordered this week but it hasn’t arrived so I’ll photograph it when it comes in.
Projects I Worked On:
Barb’s Koigu Ruffle is so close to being finished! I’ll finish it today.
Toe Up Socks With a Difference – second sock finished! According to Ravelry, these were started September 1, 2016. Again . . why did it take me so long to finish these?
Knitting Plans for next Week:
- As soon as the rest of the yarn arrives for Hue Shift Afghan, I need to get started. I need to do about 10 squares per week to get that thing finished by the end of the year and get max Yarnathon stars. I may not be able to do it because that’s not the only project I want to finish next year but we’ll see.
- Find #10 UFO and get it finished.
- Finish Koigu Ruffle
- Get at least two more Rye socks knitted.

Projects Finished:
- Toe Up Socks
# of Items in Queue:
My goal is to have 270 in the queue by the end of 2018. Some items will get knitted, some will get deleted.
1/1/18 – 305
1/5/18 – 291
- MiCasa removed because I’ve started it.
- Reverse Psychology removed because I knitted it already and never removed it from the queue.
- Architexture removed because I’ve started it.
- Something that I couldn’t even figure out what it was.
- Jetsetter because it isn’t something I’m going to make.
- Lilli Pilli because I’ve started it.
- Veronika removed because I’ve made it.
- Feathers was deleted because I had planned to make it for a friend but ended up using the same yarn to make something else for her.
- Snow Bunny Mittens – never going to make those.
- Olsin Hat deleted – probably never going to make that.
- Amargo Ankle socks – never going to make.
- Anemone Hat – deleted from queue because I have made several, will make more but no more are planned.
- Brickless deleted because I’ve cast on already
- Gothic Lace Cowl – doubt I’ll make that
- Cunning Jayne Hat – doubt I make that
- Tallulah – made it already
- Little Bit of Love added to queue
- Hortense Beaded Lace Shawl added
# of UFOs:
These numbers do not count hibernating projects. Some hibernating projects have not been started but the yarn has been set aside so I keep them in my “projects” for my own ease of planning. Some hibernating projects should be ripped back and forgotten about. These numbers are the projects that really should be finished.
1/1/18 – 22
1/5/18 – 22 (Toe Up Socks finished/Rye socks was added)

I downloaded the Hue Shift Afghan into Knit Companion last night. And ordered the yarn! I need to have my head examined.

I like the breakdown of number of UFOs and number of planned projects (ie supplies already purchased but not started). I need to do that so I can make my UFO list for the year. #10 is just going to be two christmas gift quilts that need to have the quilting finished. I was optimistic with my gift plans and a virus and other health issues came along and just laughed in my face. However I haven’t quilted in over 2 years so getting two tops complete, sandwiched, and quilting started in about a month’s time span is a win for me. Working full time, single parenting two kids (though I do split custody), dating, and numerous scouting leadership jobs doesn’t leave a lot of time for crafting. But I decided I need to find a way and it has giving me so much joy adding it back in.

I love looking at all the ravelry patterns you post. How do all of these patterns find you?
