Yesterday a very nice and knowledgeable reader did some digging on Ravelry and wrote me a long note explaining why some of the links I’ve been sharing have not been working for all of you. Basica. lly, the default to a link in someone’s projects is for “ravelry members only”. On my own projects, I can click on “shared” and get a special link that I can then designate how I want to use it.
Example:
- This link is to one of my projects and I’ve modified it to where it should work here.
- This link is to the same project but is what I would have thought before April’s email should have worked.
So . . if you’re a Ravelry member and you’re signed in, both links should work. If you’re not a Ravelry member, the first link should work. If not . . I’ve done something wrong.
I will hopefully remember this and in the future, I will only use links that work. If, however, I’m linking up to things that don’t work for you, Ravelry member or not, please let me know. It’s crazy to include a link that all cannot see. I could sign out of my Ravelry account and check but I’m never signed out of my Ravelry account and I would forget or, if I’m on a tablet, it’s not always easy to switch from place to place without losing something (like my mind!).
Thank you and sorry I’ve been doing this incorrectly all this time but very grateful to a reader who knew there had to be a way to fix this.

That is so nice of the reader to do that Judy! You are so helpful I feel you should never feel you need to apologize I appreciate all you do! You have given me/guided me in quilting, cooking, Canning, knitting! And it’s voluntary!
Hope you stay warm we are in a blizzard now.. waiting for yarn to arrive from Loopy!!

To make it even more complicated, if a non-logged in reader clicks on the first link and see’s the page then clicks on the second link, they will still see the page. But not because the second link worked but because your browser has that page cached already on your PC. If they instead clicked on the second link first, they see the page saying they need to log in but the first link will work for them. Confused yet? lol
But your first linked works without having to log into Raverly and that is all that matters.

Thank you, April! As a Ravelry non-member, That link wasn’t working for me. However, I figured that was a very small snag in the many, many things that Judy shares!

I clicked on both the first and 2nd link and they looked exactly the same for me. I am a Ravelry member but did not have Ravelry open at the time. Thanks for all your time Judy in getting things better for everyone and to April for knowing what to do. Does she hire out her computer skills. I’m sure she could keep very busy with all us quilters. 🙂
