Chad had been holding off buying a home because he was determined he was going to find a house and 200 acres. We won’t even go into the discussion about budget, down payment, and house note but I guess he finally came to the conclusion that a nice home and 200 acres wasn’t in the cards for them now. The house they’re buying is on a fairly small lot . . not as small as many newer houses but it seems bigger because there’s a good bit of green space next to his lot.
I’m so happy they’re buying something they can afford and so happy they’re happy with what they found.
There’s a real nice park across the street and Chad said “The best part is I’ll never have to buy another child’s outside toy and I don’t have to cut around all that stuff in the yard!” I laughed . . Addie is 5 and he thinks he’ll never have to buy another outside toy. It will be so fun to have that whole playground right across the street. I can see Chad and Nicole spending a lot of time sitting in the park while Addie plays. And if they’re still living there when she’s an adolescent and young teen, how cool to meet your boyfriend in the park or at least have a place to go where mom and dad aren’t right under your nose!
It’s an older home but the inspection went well and the inspector pointed out to Nicole’s dad (who is a builder) several things that indicated to him that it was a very well constructed house.
Chad said Nicole has already picked out all new paint colors. They let Addie choose her own color and she wants pink with sparkles. I said “Oh, that’s cute!” Chad said “I doubt it happens. The sparkles.” I reminded him that when he was a young teen and I told him he could choose the color for his room, he said “black”. I said no! I told him it had to be a color we could repaint and have it changed with one coat and, as I recall, it was black or nothing so it stayed the color it was when we bought the house.
The family room is nice and roomy.
I love the kitchen from what I can see in the pictures.
I judge a house by the kitchen and I’d take this kitchen any day over my kitchen
.
The house was only on the market for only a few days when Chad bought it. The seller had already ordered a new fridge – I guess thinking that would help the house sell, but Chad bought it before the fridge was ever delivered. He said it was delivered yesterday . . a nice side by side with ice and water on the door. I wonder if he would notice if I took it! Chad said the new fridge is white (or maybe almond) to match the other appliances. They already have a bigger stainless side by side fridge but there’s plenty of room in the garage to put a second fridge and their big freezer, plus there’s a little room that’s part of the garage where Chad will be able to put his lathe and woodworking tools.
I think it’s going to be a good home for their little family and I hope they can stay there for many years!

Sparkles on the curtains. Hard to paint over. Our granddaughter changes her wall colors about every 2 years! She is 12.

Maybe Addie would be satisfied with sparkly accessories.

Looks like a wonderful first home!!! So happy they found something they could afford and that they liked! It’s a start for them and WAY better than renting.

Looks really nice and clean!

Lowe’s sells sparkles specifically that goes in the paint so the walls shimmer. I did my bedroom in a grey and love it.

Yes the older teen boy wanted lime green and yellow. Oh so very gaudy that room was.

First of all I think of resale value and time on the market when paint colors are chosen. When looking for a home I am one who looks at the kitchen first. If it doesn’t pass my test then I keep looking.

Tell Nicole that all your friends are excited. We want to see before and after pictures of everything. I love makeovers! Maybe you and Nicole could get into the home designer business.

Happy for Chad & Nicole, how exciting! Does (will) Nicole like the glass top range? I’d love to have that kitchen too, it looks so roomy and well laid out, (though I’d prefer a gas range in my own).
