It was a few months back .. heck probably 8 or more months ago that we bought new Samsung phones. I think it’s outrageous how much a name brand, all the bells and whistles cell phone costs these days. I got mine right after the new models came out and it was the previous model, which was discounted somewhat but still outrageous. But, I’m not sure I can live without it. I use the camera non-stop. I text. I use apps. I hate the cost but love what the phone offers so I pay the price.
I keep a cover on it and I know I should be more careful but I drop the darned thing .. not every day but I’ve probably dropped it 3 or 4 times since I got it.
Over the weekend, I had it in the kitchen and had put it down on the step stool and forgot that I put it there. I went to move the step stool and crash . . the phone hit the floor. It fell maybe one foot and I know it’s fallen farther but this was slate floor and I guess it hit at just the right angle. I picked it up and put it on the counter, figuring it was ok. Later, when I went to go to the living room, I grabbed it and felt slivers of “glass” falling out. Oh, no! Who’s going to tell Vince I have to buy a new phone? Not I said the chicken wife! I sat down like nothing was wrong and was shaking the slivers into a paper towel. Then I noticed the cracks in the glass, not even in the area where the glass was crumbling. I guess the look on my face said “we have a problem”. Vince said “What’s wrong?” and I said “you don’t want to know!” He kept staring at me . . like he thought I was going to tell him that my phone was cracked or something. Then I noticed it might be just the screen protector thing and not the actual phone.
I said “I think I need another screen protector on my phone.” He looked at it and . . yep, it was just the screen protector. Thank goodness for that thing. And, thank goodness that Vince knows how hard I am on phones. He had an extra one so he replaced it and said “Try not to drop it again!” Yes, sir! I’ll do my best!

MAN, I did that awhile back but I thought it was definitely the phone. I made an appt. to go to the Apple Store (WAAYY worse than the DMV!! LOL), ran up there, STILL waited FOREVER even WITH an appt. and finally got someone to help me. He said ‘oh, it’s the screen protector’ and I said ‘really, are you sure, looks like the screen’ and he said he was pretty sure. I wasn’t convinced and didn’t want to make another trip so he peeled it off and it WAS just the screen protector. Think I had to pay $25 for another but it was worth it. I can’t live without mine sadly.

I have an IPhone and I have always purchased the LifeProof brand of covers. A couple of times it has paid for itself. (Its an expensive cover). I have a marble raised hearth on my fireplace, and I dropped my phone and it hit that edge…not even a scratch on the cover. It also makes the phone waterproof, although I’d rather not test that part! With the price of phones, I’d be tempted to wrap it in bubble wrap if I couldn’t get the good covers.

Also Otterbox covers. That is what we put on the kids’ phones.

I love my glass screen protector! I have to say it doesn’t help my younger son. He still can’t own a phone more than two weeks without cracking the screen. He has to buy his own, and he has to get cheaper models, or sometimes a friend gives him an old one. LOL He really liked this last one, and was so mad at himself.

Oh I hear ya on the Samsung as I have the Samsung Note 8. Never know where I am that I may need to write down a note and that is so convenient. I have used it many times.
When I had my surgery I used the local wheel chairs at the grocery store and when I got out of it -Wham -right on the face of it .. So I guess I better go face the music and get a new screen …sigh .. more money .. OH well that is what I get for letting it out of my purse as I have kept it there when we go somewhere … Oh well …
