I was supposed to take Rita to the vet in Abilene today. I would have to leave here by 8 a.m. The low last night was supposed to be 13° and we had drizzle and mist last night. I have to see the knee doc in Abilene next week so I rescheduled Rita’s appointment for the same day. One trip to Abilene instead of two . . great!
I keep having to go out and pour warm water in the outside chicken water buckets. We have heat inside the coops so the water in there isn’t frozen but I’m not sure they think enough to know to go inside to get water.
There’s a light on for Cat (not that he will go near it) so I put a metal bowl of water near enough the light to keep the water semi-melted. I figure if he gets thirsty enough, he’ll be brave enough to go past the light and get a drink.
I’m afraid to even check our propane tanks. You know that budget . . Vince may have me sitting here wrapped up in quilts instead of using the heater. That isn’t funny . . it’s sad that there are people who have to do that because they cannot afford heat.
Rita’s sporting her hunter orange sweater. You can never be too careful back here in these woods.
Today things are changing. It will be in the 50’s today and by the weekend, back into the 70’s. We’ve had winter and we are done . . I hope! 🙂

WOW!!! We don’t have 70s in our forecast at all! DARN!! I might come visit you during your 70’s forecast. HA! 64’s the highest on Sun.

Well it’s 7 degrees out here. And we have had 120 inches of snow In December 2017 already at Erie, PA.

It was 22 here this morning – a heat wave! Just getting above freezing will be a nice change. Can’t wait to get to Texas.

What a fashionista!!!!!! Glad your weather will be warming. This minus weather this past week plus wind is doing me in. 8 – 14″ of snow due tomorrow. ugh. As I’m sitting here going thru all the seed catalogs that have arrived. How did your keyhole garden do? Will you plant in it again this year?

while it is 12 degrees here this morning, i am wishing i was back in texas where it will be 70. sigh!! we are some of those folks that have to keep the heater on about 65 to be able to afford the propane bill. i turn the thermostat down to 60 at night. they just filled us up yesterday. thankfully, we have a wood stove, too, so that helps. but that early morning trip outside….my job….to fill it up again is a killer.
i turn the heat off at the studio when i leave there in the afternoon….and when i get back in the morning, it is 30 degrees in there. brrrr by the time the heater warms the place up to 65, it is time to go back to the house. i hate winter.

Rita is so cute in that sweater.
Your temps sure do oscillate. Here in the Pacific NW, its stays about the same – drizzle and 40s. Sometimes it dips below freezing and sometimes we’ll get a heat wave in the 50s. But when the sun is out, its the most beautiful place.

Aren’t our temps crazy? Before we moved here, I knew we’d have miserably hot summers but I had no idea we’d have nights as low as 5°.

If it makes you feel any better, it’s 0 degrees here and windy with a wind chill of -15 to -30. Schools are closed because of the cold. And I have to go to the grocery store and the drug store today. I’ve been putting off going out for a couple of days hoping it would get a little warmer, but it just gets worse every day. Now, I have to choice!!

With the cold weather ou have no snakes right? Imagine if you were in Missouri now…you would be a lot colder. BTW, what state did your son choose his house? It is freezing here in FL too but they say high 60’s this weekend. Keep warm. Get that cat inside.

Its supposed to be 50’s today sometime today … I still have the fire stove a going and freezing in the computer room as the heat hasn’t quite gotten back there yet. But the furnace will come on soon and the heat just isn’t the same as the wood heat .. So comfortable. Guess I will go crochet after I go online to find out about renewing my drivers license (we do that every 4 years here in CO).
