I think I’m having a hard time typing 2018. Did I put 2017 on last night’s report? Heck, I was typing 2018 in December and now I’m typing 2017. Something isn’t right! 🙁
Why can I never say what I have to say without a long, totally unrelated story? I don’t know!
Last October or November, we had a new air and heater unit installed. I had to have a programmable thermostat. When we first moved in, we had the thermostat changed to programmable but it wasn’t as “programmable” as I wanted. So, now we have one I can control with my phone. Somewhere along the way it became “unprogrammed” or we need to change the times. It isn’t hard . . I just have to do it and I never think about it til bedtime and I’m too tired.
We sleep with our thermostat on 64°, which is as low as Vince will let me keep it. Do you know how nice it is to sleep all night without being hot? But, without the program being right, I have to set my phone to go off at 5:20 a.m., I change the temp from the bed with my phone and try to go back to sleep for 30 minutes. This morning I watched the phone (in more time than it would have taken me to program the thermostat) and it only took less than 10 minutes for the temp to go from 64° to 70°. That means I can set my clock for 5:45 a.m. and it will be warm when we get up at 5:55 a.m. Tomorrow, you can bet I’ll take the time to program the thermostat but the cold weather is almost over and we’ll have our a/c on by this time next week probably.
Anyway . . here’s the real blog post.
Five more rows to go and this sock will be finished but I’m too tired. 10 p.m. and I can’t hold my eyes open . . because I woke up at 5:20 this morning so it would be warm for Vince when he got out of bed. Come to think of it . . leaving the thermostat on 64° saves money and helps the budget so maybe we’ll just wake up to a cold house . . at 5:55 in the morning! No, that won’t happen. I’d be in bed til noon if it was that cold in the house when I have to crawl out of my warm bed.
Tomorrow probably before daylight, this sock will be finished. Then I can start working on the ruffle scarf and then I can allow myself to cast on a new project!
Oh . . UFO #10. I need to at least find it. I wish I hadn’t thought of that.
Goodnight my friends!

Ha! It’s nice to know someone besides me was up.

Programmable thermostat – one of the best inventions – I love ours. Ours is set to 62 at night and during the day when we are not home. It turns off at 8:15 – if I’m in the house – about 8:45 I’m feeling cold and cursing the thermostat – because it’s turned to temp hold for the day – easy to override – just have to do it.

I at least pulled out project #10. I’m trying to finish a NICU blanket first (over half done), and then I’ll work on the project of the month…I replaced my thermostat last week while I was home. I was trying to override the temp since I was home all day and 60 was too cold…the “up” button had become too stubborn to work. I could turn the temp down just fine, but not up. I didn’t want to have to get up at my normal work time just to hit “hold” to keep the temp up where I wanted it for the day. The box claimed it would take 15 minutes to install. I think it was more like an hour, but I got it done, and it worked! (added bonus. LOL)

You are too funny!! Our thermostat is set at 64 during the day and 50 at night, except in our bedroom where it is set at 45 so I can keep the window open without the heat turning on. It’s heaven, but then I guess I must have ice water in my veins. I can’t sleep if it’s any warmer!

My husband doesn’t like it cold at night – he likes to set the thermostat at 68. I’d like it at 60. He’ll tolerate 66. If he falls asleep before me, I turn it down to 64. I also like a window open at night, but can’t do that in rainy weather (which is often in the Pacific NW). So I sleep with one light blanket on and he has a blanket, quilt and 2 comforters covering him. I miss having cool air and being snuggled under a warm quilt.

We struggle with the same thing. In the summer, Vince is comfortable with the a/c set at 75. I’m better with it at 65 and if our solar panels worked at night, I’d probably put it on 60.
