Sometimes when I start to write a blog post, I’ll write the title and then I’m tempted to go off on a totally fiction story — like telling you about our wonderful trip to Camp Wilkerson. But, I can’t do that because my knitting buddies here . . well, some of them . . no, it’s only one but she’s been on me about telling the truth. It’s so easy for me to make up a fairly believable totally untrue story for just about anything and my friend, Nancy, believes everything I tell her. I should say that she used to believe me. Now she said she doesn’t believe anything I tell her. Even when I’m telling the truth, I start laughing because I can see in her eyes that she doesn’t believe me.
OK .. the real story about Camp Wilkerson . . really! I wouldn’t tell a story. 🙂
One of the Eat, Sleep, Knit badges is “Copycat” and it’s to knit a project that one of the “kitties” has done. The kitties are the moderators or ESK employees. There are 8 mods/administrators who have projects and I spent a lot of time going through all their projects. There were three that I couldn’t decide between.
- TheBon had done Jones and I loved it enough to write her in January, 2016 with a question about it. I bought the pattern and ordered yarn but it isn’t ESK yarn so either I would have to buy more yarn or use yar from another project.
- HonestBloom had lots of projects I loved but she has Carabe in her projects. I have yarn to make that but I wasn’t really inspired to make it after seeing hers. I have liked it a long time.
- EmilyNan has a Camp Wilkerson in her projects. When she first posted her finished project in December, 2016, I ordered yarn and bought the pattern. That’s the one I’m going to do for my Copycat badge.
The yarn I have is Malabrigo Rios in Pearl Ten, Natural, Apple Green and English Rose.
Once I finish one pair of the Rye socks, I’m going to cast on for Camp Wilkerson because you know my motto — why finish one project when I can start something new??

I haven’t made a final decision yet but Camp Wilkerson was one of the projects I was contemplating also for the copycat badge. Still need to stalk a few more of the Kitties projects…

I think we could get Judy back to quilting if we had some sort of contest where she could earn badges or something.
Seems like she is into this knitting thing because there are contests that keep her wanting to do more.

Just FYI, you can’t see the Raverly links in this post if you don’t sign in. I went back to your other post cause I was curious what was the difference.
The ones you can see are in raverly’s pattern library:
www ravelry com / patterns / ibrary / nordnordwest
The ones you can’t see are in a person’s library:
www ravelry com / projects / EmilyNan711 / camp-wilkerson
When in a person’s library, it defaults to only being available for viewing with raverly members. To change that the owner of the project has to click on the “share this” link on the project page and then click on the link “Share this page with others”. From there the project can be set to:
Default – Ravelers only
Invite – access with link
Public – visible to all
For items in your project list that you want to share on your blog, you can use “Invite – access with link” and you will get a link you can use on your blog without making your project public without a sign in. Basically the user has to have the link to get access to the project.
For other’s project, it is going to depend on their settings. Most aren’t even going to realize this feature exists.
I am a computer programmer so just familiar with how sites are likely configured. I knew there had to be a setting on saying what privacy level you want on your project so I went looking for it. lol For others, you can click on the pattern though and share the pattern page instead.
Just like you need mechanic friends, and lawyer friends, and accountant friends, you need computer savvy friends. 😉 I’m personally short of a lawyer friend. lol.
