Note to Self

Next year, on New Year’s Eve, I will take a LONG nap and then I can stay up later on New Year’s night. Not only does Eat, Sleep, Knit try to ruin our Practice Retirement Budget (which from now on, will simply be known as PRB), they ruined my sleep last night also!

Last night I could not hold my eyes open past 10:30 so I went to bed. Vince was still up doing something. He is never up later than I am but last night . . he was! I feel right to sleep but woke up about 12:30. Vince was already in bed, asleep and I had never heard him come to bed. I kept thinking about the new Yarnathon but I willed myself to go back to sleep, then woke up again a few minutes after 1 and decided to grab my tablet, stick it under the covers and read about the 2018 Yarnathon. That’s when I discovered the Tin Can Knits projects for the Q1 Knit Along. Then I remembered that I had just put some Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted in a tub to take to the sewing room. The tub was in an extra bedroom so I went digging, found it and decided to go ahead and wind it. I have no idea what time football games start today but knew I couldn’t be winding yarn on the table if he’s watching football. Funny how he doesn’t hear half of what I say but let that yarn winder make one little squeak during a football game and . . that’s suddenly disturbing his game.  🙂

So, I wound the yarn, did the blog post, created a project on Ravelry and went back to bed before 2. Went back to sleep. Woke up at 3:30 and started thinking about all the Yarnathon badges and things I hadn’t read. Got up again. Decided to cast on and see how fast it would be knitting socks with worsted weight yarn!

Rye Socks

Got the ribbing done and was back in bed by 4:30. Slept til a little after 8. That was a lot of interruptions to my sleep. You can bet I’ll be back in bed taking a nap at some point today . . if I can get my mind to stop spinning out of control about the 2018 Yarnathon.

I even went through all the badges and knit alongs and tried to calculate how many stars I can get if I only order yarn once . . on my birthday, so I can get the birthday order badge. I don’t think I’ll be ordering yarn only once, but I do think I’ll be ordering way less than I’ve ordered in the past years.

Ha ha, I read the PRB as PBR and thought maybe you’d added a beer budget! Knitting socks with worsted weight should go pretty quickly. Have fun!

I stayed up and knit until about 4 AM. Got a start on my first quarter project. And despite the fact that I wasn’t going to order yarn – well I did say I might order the yarnathon themed yarn – I placed an order for some Sea Witch and Ariel for two future yarnathon projects. Which team are you on?
