I have no idea how much yarn I added this year, nor do I want to know. What I do know is that I’m really excited about 2018. I want to keep running tabs on what I start, and what I finish. I’m not so interested in what I add, because I’m feeling like I won’t be adding much but I do want to keep up with how much I use in 2018.
In 2017, a total of 36 items were finished. This photo isn’t all of them (I couldn’t get them all in one screen).
Here’s how it breaks down:
- Shawls – 16
- Socks – 9
- Sweaters – 3 (All for Addie) and 1 for me
- Hats – 4
There was one pair of mitts, 2 cowls, and a headband,
It was a good year and I had lots of fun . . hoping I can get more done in 2018. I hope the excitement and commitment to do better – knit more, buy less, stay focused and get some older projects . . I hope that all continues throughout 2018.
Anyone else feeling good about doing what you need to do in 2018, whether it’s knitting, sewing, quilting, losing weight, living on a budget . . oh, wait . . I’m not real thrilled with our new practice for retirement budget but I’ll play along.
One thing for sure is that it will seem like no time at all and we’ll be having the discussion about how well we did in 2018 and what our plans are for 2019. Let’s all make 2018 a great year . . on as many fronts as possible.

Good job!!!!! I have the same goal for 2018 but with quilting, I have removed myself from many email lists so I stopped getting sucked in to making a purchase I don’t need to make!

Your knitting reports encouraged me to start working on socks again! I’m in the middle of my second pair and am very happy. I had several other knitting finishes as well. Keep up the great work!

Awesome work… you’ve been very productive this year. I don’t make resolutions but I am going to really really try to shop from my stash before I buy…however lately I’ve been quite smitten with gradient yarns and I don’t have much of that in my stash… so I might make an exception for that. Oh the budget thing… good luck… I find that whenever I say I’m not going to spend money on this or that, at that exact moment there is a wonderful deal on whatever it was I wasn’t going to buy… I can resist everything but temptation…LOL Happy New Year !!

I didn’t get as much knitting done this year as usual, but I did quite a bit of weaving. I spent a couple of hours yesterday trying to bring order back to my yarn room. Whenever I do a cleanup in there, I’m reminded of just how much yarn and spinning fiber I have. 2018 is going to be a year of “using up”. I’m not saying I won’t buy ANY yarn/fiber, but I want to shop in my stash as much as I can. (There is a sweater I want to do, and it calls for DK weight, and that’s something I don’t have much of.). There are fiber festivals to go to and knitting retreats, and those always include some shopping… In 2017 both of our yarn shops closed, so there was extra buying of yarn and fiber that won’t happen this year. We’ll see how long my good intentions last.
