We left Louisiana about 9 this morning. I was going to set the alarm for 6:30 and Vince said that was too early but I woke up at 6 so I got up and started cleaning out the fridge and doing the last minute cleaning. Vince heard me up and he got up. It’s a good thing we got up early because we had a heck of a lot to pack up in the car. We stopped and ate, then stopped at a grocery store on the way home to get milk, cabbage and a few other things we wanted.
I’m still not sure if we have ice predicted for tonight or just tomorrow morning but we wanted to get home ahead of all that. About one and one-half hours from home, the temp was 52° and that’s where it started dropping. By the time we got home, it was 34° and drizzling. We hurried and unpacked the car, then I divided the tamales and vacuum sealed them, along with the boudin and sausage. I was happy to have that done!
I hadn’t even thought about dinner and Vince just asked what was for dinner. I said “How about sausage and tamales?” and he said that was what he was hoping we’d have so . . tamales went in the steamer, sausage went into the skillet.
I’m betting at least one of us will be in bed early tonight . . and in our own bed.
No matter how much fun we have while we’re away, and my uncle’s lakehouse is pretty much our favorite place to go, it’s always good to be home.

One’s own bed is usually the most comfy place to sleep!

We left Georgetown around 5 this afternoon. It was in the 50’s. We were not coming home until tomorrow but decided we didn’t want to get caught in ice and snow! Good thing we did, because by the time we got home it was 30 degrees and it had misted on us all the way from Seward Junction. We are so glad to be home and so are our pups! They have a good sitter but they are always glad to see us come home! Glad you had a safe trip and made it home safely!
