Maybe this is a preview of retirement. We were up shortly after 6 this morning. I’ve vacuumed the carpets, swept the tile floors, done laundry and we’re sitting here twiddling our thumbs. We’re still waiting on a time to meet the a/c guy at the house. He’ll call when he’s about 30 minutes from the house and we’ll head over to meet him.
This is the first day we’ve had nothing planned. We aren’t bored but I suppose it’s just waiting on the a/c guy. We don’t want to start anything and have to stop and go.
This morning I was looking online at houses in east Texas and Vince said “I think I want to stay in this area. The food is good, the people are nice. You have family here.” That is so weird. For 20+ years, I’ve said I want to move back to Louisiana and he’s always snarled. Now, he’s saying this is where he wants to be. I knew it! If I could just get him to spend some time here, he’d love it.
Right now we kinda have all our eggs in one basket with this one house. I’d say there’s a 50/50 chance we can make a deal on it. If it falls through, who knows how he’ll feel. I think he really likes the house . . maybe more than I do but I like it a lot.
Here’s an interesting little tidbit. One of my dad’s brothers is buried at a cemetery near the house we’re looking at. I was talking to my uncle this morning and he said one of my grandma’s brothers is buried there also. I’ll have lots of family close buy . . even if they aren’t all alive.
I already have friends who have volunteered to help me paint walls. Of course, there was a mention of bringing wine and, at least for me, painting and wine don’t mix well. 🙂
Waiting on the last load of laundry for today. I think I’ll sit and knit and wait for the a/c guy’s call.
